Ford Escort Mk1 RS2000 Pure Sound - Hill Climb and Circuit Racing !!
produzia 120 cv. Em 1973 surgiu a versão RS 2000 com 100 cv, motor pinto
The Mark I Ford Escort was introduced in the United Kingdom at the end of
1967, making its show debut at Brussels Motor Show in January 1968. It
replaced the successful long running Anglia. The car was presented in
continental Europe as a product of Ford's European operation. Escort
production commenced at Halewood in England during the closing months of
1967, and for left hand drive markets during September 1968 at the Ford
plant in Genk. Initially the continental Escorts differed slightly from
the UK built ones under the skin. The front suspension and steering gear
were differently configured and the brakes were fitted with dual hydraulic
circuits; also the wheels fitted on the Genk-built Escorts had wider
rims. At the beginning of 1970, continental European production
transferred to a new plant on the edge of Saarlouis, West Germany.
The 2.0 L RS2000 version, with its distinctively slanted polyurethane nose,
and featuring the Pinto engine from the Cortina, was announced in the UK in
March 1975 and introduced in Germany in August 1975, being reportedly
produced in both countries. It provided a claimed 110 bhp and a top speed
of 110 mph (177 km/h). For acceleration to 100 km/h (62.5 mph) a time of
just 8.9 seconds was claimed by the manufacturers.

SOLD - SIMILAR REQUIRED PLEASE CALL 01733 425140
A genuine AVO Mk1 Ford Escort RS2000 presented in impeccable detail.
Advanced Vehicle Operations (AVO) Type 49 body, front quarter bumpers,
flared wheel arches, strengthened chassis rails, strengthened flitch
plates, reinforced front suspension strut top mounting plates, rear radius
rods, safety glass, anti-burst locks, black painted aluminium grille, six
pod sports binnacle, heater fan, two speed wiper, courtesy light, cigar
lighter, Kienzle clock, heated rear window. Factory fitted options; RS
centre console, Ford MW/LW radio, map reading light, driver/passenger seat
headrests. Dealer Special Build Programme; RS wiper blade wind deflector,
Ford mud flaps.
Finished in RS Olympic Blue, (Code E) this genuine RS2000 is outstanding.
Impeccable detailing extending to the underside and engine bay will please
the most critical of owners and onlookers. AVO workmanship is laid bare
for all to see. The chrome, rubbers, and badges are in immaculate order
with the distinctive wide decals adding the perfect RS look as delivered by
the Ford RS Dealer in 1974. Tiny scratches to the driver side window,
minute markings to the original wiper arms and a barely noticeable join on
the bonnet decal do not dampen the 'wow' factor this example offers. Such
is the reaction this RS generates that when on display at the 2013 NEC
Classic Car Show crowd barriers were erected to prevent eager onlookers
accidently damaging the pristine paint!
True and exact in every respect to a Ford RS2000 interior with incredible
attention to detail. The brushed nylon RS sports seats with optional
headrests and button RS logos match a spotless loop pile carpet throughout
and unmarked door cards. The rare Kienzle clock housed within the
optional RS centre console joins all the other fully operational sports
instrumentation providing at a glance concise information. Only the Ford
LW/MW radio does not work. The boot area continues the showroom experience
with a refurbished Ford jack painted in the correct blue and neatly wrapped
in the hessian bag resting on an impossible to source genuine unmarked boot
mat. One for the RS connoisseur.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Prepare for gasps of amazement as onlookers marvel under the bonnet of this
Escort RS2000. The 2.0 Ford 'Pinto' unit offers ample performance thanks
to a downdraught compound twin-choke Weber carburettor and a free-flow Exhaust manifold so 100bhp and 0-60mph in
9.0 seconds with a top speed of 108mph is possible. The single selector
rail shift four speed synchromesh gearbox offers short, positive snappy
gear changes and is a delight to use.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Immaculate and highly sought after 5.5" steel sports road wheels with the
correct two tone scheme, the inner circumference being pearl grey (Code
XSC695). Matching new 175/70 R13 Pirelli P300 tyres complete the package.
An unused spare is strapped and angled in the boot with chalk marks on the
tyre. The direct acting vacuum servo assistance dual-line braking system
has been slightly enhanced with vented front discs to offer safe stopping
Built at Fords Advanced Vehicle Operations factory in Aveley in February
1974 this vehicle is one of 3,759 genuine AVO RS2000's built for the UK
market of which only a fraction are now recorded at the AVO register, this
being one of them. With only eight former keepers this example was fully
rebuilt over a two year period from 2009 to 2011 at considerable expense
and still looks factory fresh having been completely pampered since. A
photographic catalogue of the restoration will help reveal the level of
care and attention lavished on this RS to the new owner. Recently one of
the star attractions at the 2013 NEC Classic Car Show held between the
The original owner literature including the Escort Owner's Handbook and
even an Advanced Vehicle Operations Price Guide from 1974 is included in
the history file. Various invoices, MOT certificates and spare keys are
included. Interesting literature for Ford RS collectors, including the
sought after HAVOC Limited Edition publication (0528/1000) is also
presented with the car.

The Tour de Corse - Rallye de France is a rally first held in 1956 on the
island of Corsica. It was part of the World Rally Championship from the
inaugural 1973 season until 2008. The name "Tour de Corse" refers to the
fact that in the early days it was run around the island; nowadays it only
features roads around Ajaccio. The rally is held on asphalt roads, and it
is known as the "Ten Thousand Turns Rally" because of the twisty mountain
