The Porsche 356 is an automobile which was produced by German company Porsche from 1948 to 1965. It was the company's first production automobile. The 356 was a lightweight and nimble-handling rear-engine rear-wheel-drive 2-door sports car available in hardtop coupe and open configurations. Design innovations continued during the years of manufacture, contributing to its motorsports success and popularity. Production started in 1948 at Gmünd, Austria, where approximately 50 cars were built. In 1950 the factory relocated to Zuffenhausen, Germany, and general production of the 356 continued until April 1965, well after the replacement model 911 made its autumn 1963 debut. Of the 76,000 originally produced, approximately half survive.

1964 Porsche 356 C Coupe " SOLD " Drage's International Classic Sales 206-533-9600
1964 PORSCHE 356 C COUPE. # 128476. 3 owner Porsche. Another great feature, I could not find any rust. This was a California car most of it's life. I was amazed how smooth everything worked when I drove it for the first time. I'm not sure at this point if it's original paint or not? I was told that it is an original Ruby red car that has had minor touchup paint, and also that this is a rare accident free and rust free vehicle. My body guy said the fit was great and he felt that it had never been hit. We installed the original steering wheel and seat belts. We had the original seats rebuilt and reupholstered and installed. This makes the Porsche look a lot better and it's all stock now. The only bad thing we could find in the body was the bottom of the battery box has been replaced, I'm sure from battery acid and not rust. This Porsche was originally equipped with a 1600 cc four-cylinder split case 85 hp engine with 8.5:1 compression pistons, dual Solex carbs, 6 volt electrical system and four-wheel disc brakes. The engine has been completely rebuilt by a master Porsche engine rebuilder. Now it has 1750 cc cylinder heads and 9.1:1 Pistons, modified cam with dual Weber carbs. The case #s do not match. Koni shock absorbers. Joe at Old School Garage did the service and safety check on this Porsche. Joe knows these cars very well and has done an excellent job making sure that everything is in very good order. If you have any questions I'm sure Joe would be happy to answer them for you. What a great find. I have been having a great time driving the 356. It would be very easy to keep this Porsche. It may not be nice enough for a purest but you might not find one as nice. In the photos note the California registration from 1978. I would tell you to come and inspect it for yourself. Drager's International Classic Sales 18805 Aurora Ave. N. We took the car for a little spin! We love to hear your comments on our videos. Feel free to leave one! One of the most desirable collector models is the 356 "Speedster", introduced in late 1954 after Max Hoffman, the sole US importer of Porsches, advised the company that a lower-cost, somewhat spartan open-top version could sell well in the American market. With its low, raked windscreen (which could be removed for weekend racing), bucket seats and minimal folding top, the Speedster was an instant hit, especially in Southern California. Production of the Speedster peaked at 1,171 cars in 1957 and then started to decline. It was replaced in late 1958 by the "Convertible D" model.[5] It featured a taller, more practical windshield (allowing improved headroom with the top erected), roll-up glass side-windows and more comfortable seats. The following year the 356B "Roadster" convertible replaced the D model but the sports car market's love affair with top-down motoring was fading; soft-top 356 model sales declined significantly in the early 1960s. Today these early four-cylinder models are highly coveted by collectors and enthusiasts worldwide.

Cassia in a Convertible (1959 Porsche 356 "D")
Cassia drives one of the most desirable of the Porsche 356 series. The Convertible D is essentially a roll-up window Speedster. It retains the bolt on windshield aspect of the Speedster while adopting a proper fold down top & reclining, much more accommodating & comfortable seats. This example was beautifully & comprehensively repainted in its original Ruby Red 25 years ago & has held up remarkably well. Great day for a drive, dontcha think!?
