1971 Mercury Cougar XR-7 - SOLD!
1971 started the first year of the restyled Mercury Cougar. It weighed less
and had only a one-inch-longer wheelbase (112 inches) than its
predecessors. The front end now featured four exposed headlights, the
center grille piece was now larger, the rear featured a semi-fastback with
a flying buttress sail-pane, the XR-7 returned, and the engine lineup was
revised for 1971 as well.
This Cougar features a 351 Windsor 2-barrel V8, has a C-6 A/T, P/S and P/B.
It has not only a beautiful exterior, but a beautiful interior and you
could nearly eat off of the bottom side of the car. It has dual Exhaust and exudes quiet power. GROWL!
If you are looking for a great summer cruiser, completely done, turn key,
get in and drive, you owe it to yourself to own this one. Don't
hesitate—you know who you are that missed out on the last two!!

The Story Of Cougar 1: The First Mercury Cougar
A while back, we sat down with Jim Pinkerton, the owner of the very first
production Mercury Cougar (1967 model year), a.k.a. Cougar 1. We hit the
"record" button on our cameras and he let loose with an epic tale of how
the car was first sold in Canada, its subsequent life there, and how it
eventually got into his hands - an intriguing story! He also goes over some
of the unique features of the car, and some of the restoration techniques
used. It's a truly beautiful factory show car with more attention to detail
than the 'average' Cougar.
Special thanks to Jim Pinkerton for his time, and for providing most of the
images you see in this video from his own collection of Cougar memorabilia.

Classic Cougar Prowl (2011)
There's nothing like a classic car show that features your favorite car
almost exclusively. The Cascade Cougar Club put on a great show this year
at the XXX Root Beer stand in Issaquah, WA. Lots of great people and
beautiful cars. In this video, we check out the show and interview some
Cougar owners to get their thoughts.

Mercury Cougar - American Muscle Car
An excellent TV show featuring the classic Mercury Cougar. They cover all
the classic years, and talk about all the different engines and option
packages you could get. Only a couple minor mistakes (they say the that
XR-7 package included a 4-speed stick, then show an automatic shifter in
one... derrr) but overall a very nice overview of these cars.

I've pulled the interior and vinyl top. I'll be replacing the sheetmetal.
Everything mechanical is perfect, so it still needs its weekly exercise.
Muscle Car Of The Week Video #59: 1968 Mercury Cougar GT-E 427
http://www.musclecaroftheweek.com/store - This week, we're bringing you an
often overlooked muscle car, the 1968 Mercury Cougar GT-E. These were
sporty but comfortable, and the GT-E bought you a 7-liter V8 to make things
interesting. Most were the smooth 428 V8, but some were ordered with the
far less subtle 427 side oiler... like the one in this video. The 427 was
rated at 390 HP and has a great rumble, but the car is refined enough to
drive and enjoy every day. The Brothers Collection is home to several
rare Mercury cats, this is one of the favorites!
73 plymouth satellite.mpg
Just in is a beautiful original lemon twist yellow 73 satellite in
excellent condition inside and out. It has a freshly built 318 4bb, with
new dual Exhaust, tires, reconditioned
rally rims, roadrunner stripes, power steering, working factory tachometer,
working original radio and power brakes. This car has very nice older lemon
twist yellow paint, straight body, extremely solid original car, and very
nice original black bench seat interior. This is a very nice and great
looking mopar with tons of color and good looks. This is a car you can jump
right in for not a lot of money and take it down to your next classic car
show and have fun! This car is for sale at www.coyoteclassics.com for

It Runs Beautifully. Draws a lot of attention, wherever we go. Most people
believe it reminds them of a Cutlass or Cuda from the back/side. No rips
in the top. The body is super-solid. Only 1 small ding (Maybe 2-3"
wide-which I took a pic of). I had ½ pint of the paint mixed this week.
ALL THE CHROME IS EXCELLENT!! All glass is excellent. Everything works as
it should, except the clock, (I haven't looked to see why yet). Runs
smooth, fingertip steering. Everything is tight. Needs nothing! If I keep
it, I would buy another parade boot-this one is the original and in
good-fair condition. It wouldn't take much to be a perfect show car. If
you are looking for a solid, original, 1970's convertible in great shape,
you will not be disappointed. Look below at the rarity of this vehicle,
there were only 1,717 made. As the 1971 commercial said "It's where wild
meets elegance". ..haha, the original ad is on youtube. We are asking below
"low retail" for NADA, this vehicle is definitely closer to "high retail"

"The 1971-1973 Mercury Cougar was the last of the Cougar pony cars. They
shared an enlarged new body/chassis design with the third-generation Ford
Mustangs, but rode a
five-inch longer wheelbase.
Still, the 1971-73s are worth collector consideration, especially XR-7
hardtops -and the super-rare ragtops!
