Radical RXC: The World's Most Extreme Street Legal Coupe - XCAR
Subscribe to XCAR: http://www.youtube.com/user/XCARFilms Radical can hardly be considered sane at the best of times, but with the RXC they've taken their name quite literally and gone a few thousand steps further than ever before. Known for putting Superbike engines in light chassis to create a killer track car combination (The SR3 being their flagship model), with the RXC this is the first car they've designed from the ground up to be both for the road and track. They've dubbed it the 'world's most extreme road-legal coupe'. It's hard to argue with that. Powered by a 3.7 litre V6 Ford engine found in the new Mustang, it produces 380 bhp with 320lb ft of torque. Unlike the new Mustang, however, it weighs only 900kg, meaning it has 422bhp per ton. It's also capable of producing up to 900kg of downforce, the same as the cars weight. Again - road legal. Did we mention that already? As unbelievable as all this may be, Radical's LMP1 inspired car has finished its track development and just begun testing on the road, and XCAR were lucky enough to be the first ever to see the RXC take its first journey. We witnessed it in action on country lanes, A roads and saw the reaction it got filling up at a service station. We even managed to eat a service station sandwich inside it, most probably another world first. Needless to say, we were awestruck by the presence of the thing. The noise, the speed, the looks. It's certainly striking, and with the promise of it being a progressive handling driver's car in the same vein as the SR3, we can't wait until its finished and we can test it on the road and track. I have filmed a friend's Radical RS8 LM being tested at the Monza racetrack. Actually, it's the fastest road legal car at the Nurburgring track with a lap time of 6:48. The video shows many accelerations and very high speed fly bys with also a little backfire. In the main straight the top speed they reached was 302km/h. Radical SR8 LM VS Formula Le Mans in Paul Ricard HTTT
Cest bien connu en matière de voitures de sport, les Anglais sont incontestablement les rois de la légèreté et du passage en courbe, là ou les autres se contentent de rattraper leur retard dans les lignes droites. Mais il existe certaines équations particulières à la célèbre formule du Light Is Right. Par exemple, lorsquil sagit de concurrencer des protos de course plus puissants et trois fois plus chers sur un circuit aussi rapide que le Paul Ricard HTTT. La scène se déroulait à loccasion de la manche finale des Winter Series sur le Circuit Paul Ricard, un championnat dendurance parfait pour hiberner sportivement en prototype ou en GT avant de reprendre la saison Le Mans Series, FIA GT3 ou Open GT. Dans la catégorie prototype, les Winter Series comptent un grand nombre de Formula Le Mans, ces protos construits par Oreca, directement issus des LMP2 du Mans, motorisés par un gros V8 américain de plus de six litres de cylindrée et conçus autour dune monocoque en fibre de carbone. Des Formula Le Mans qui font office de références imbattables dans la catégorie. Sauf quand une bruyante et rapide mouche du coche vient les perturber, en loccurrence la Radical SR8 préparée par Sports Car Unlimited et pilotée de main de maître par un Fred Rouvier survolté. Lauto peut compter sur un poids plume et sur un châssis aux petits oignons pour venir concurrencer ces dernières, pourtant plus lourdement motorisées et beaucoup plus coûteuses quelle. Le plus drôle dans lhistoire, cest que la Radical SR8 LM blanche était réglée en configuration « appuis minimum » et sacrifiait son agilité dans les virages Pour rouler plus vite que ses puissantes concurrentes dans les lignes droites ! La vidéo, prise in-board dans la Radical qui défiait les FLM. Pour rappel, la Radical SR8 cest aussi lauto qui détient le record absolu pour une voiture de production sur limpitoyable Nordschleife.
