This is the turbocharged Direct Injection engine (TDI) model that gets much better MPG than its base model gasoline engine. Also helping the gas mileage is the 6 speed manual transmission. All of this combined gets you 43 MPG out of a vehicle with nearly as much space and luxury as a SUV.

Right from the Genf Autoshow there comes the new Passat Alltrack with 2.0 TDI (140hp) and 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. Obviously it is higher and due to the plastic fenders even wider.
