1974 Trans Am Super Duty 455 Four-Speed FUN
This is a very rare 1974 Pontiac Trans Am Super Duty. Less than 1,000 of this 455-powered, specially built monsters were produced from 73-74. Today they command ever increasing prices approaching six figures.

393c 1970 Mustang vs. 455 HO Trans Am
Very good race considering the 455 was built alot better than the cleveland, in the end couldn't quite pull it off. Wondering if he used his NOS.
PONTIAC - stock Pontiac Super Duty 421v8/405hp vs stock Chevy 409v8/409hp on DYNO
WATCH THE VID TO SEE HOW CLOSE THEY Dyno TO THEIR FACTORY 405hp/409hp ratings. Growing up.....Pontiac/Oldsmobile old timers/EXPERTS who taught me most of what I know, often told me Chevy rated their horsepower in a more optimistic way than say Oldsmobile or Pontiac. I've even heard Pontiac rated/tested their engines in a 100 degree room, compared to Chevy in a 60 degree room. These Dyno results seem to reflect that some of what I heard was true. Both of these engines are great, but the results do seem to show that Pontiac was not rating their horsepower worrying if it would cause "songs to be written" about their engines .... like the great song "She's real fine my 409"--(Chevy).

1973 Super Duty Trans Am Exhaust, open hood scoop, Gardner Exhaust, SD455, idling
Here is an excerpt from Popular Hot Rodding Magazine (September 1982) full page write-up about the 73-74 Super Duty Trans Am.
The first and last paragraphs:
"Probably one of the most awesome engines ever produced by Pontiac was the Super Duty which was built in two versions, 1961-1963 and 1973-1974. The Super Duty engine was ahead of its time churning out great doses of torque and horsepower. When combined with the Trans Am body style it made for an unbeatable combination of power and handling.
.......
All Super Duty Trans Ams came with the 8 1/2-inch 10-bolt rear end, and with the optional 3.42 to 1 rear gearing were capable of running 13.90-second quarter mile times. If you're interested in picking up a Super Duty T/A today, they run between $5,000 and $10,000 depending on condition. If you can't afford one, pretend you can and take a test ride. Once you've been in one, you won't forget what they look, sound, and feel like."
