American Muscle Car - The Mercury Cougar
THE AMERICAN MUSCLECAR series brings you the third season, profiling some
of the most influential cars in automotive history:
Rusty Roof Replacement - 1968 Cougar
If you have an old car that came with a vinyl top, chances are that you
have some rust issues in the roof. This was the case with Andrew's car - a
1968 Mercury Cougar that his grandparents bought brand new in '68. In this
video, Andrew takes matters into his own hands to replace his rusted roof
skin with a solid donor roof from another car. He is by no means a
restoration expert, just an amateur trying to save some money and save his

1974 Cougar XR7 Car Used in Commercials
Perhaps you remember those ads on TV featuring a beautiful model, with a
cougar resting on the top of the car! This is the car! Evidently it
toured the country, and got autographs of famous people in Hollywood and
conservation. The authenticity of those signatures is not guaranteed, but
it is still a very strange and significant display. The idea of a live,
wild animal in a commercial seems beyond the pale, at least in retrospect!
The car is cool, though..and it survived a wild beast!
Is It Numbers Matching? - Cougar by the Numbers
In this video we delve into the complex topic of decoding tags, date codes,
and other numbers to check if your classic Ford / Mercury is "numbers
matching," using Don's newly acquired '69 Mercury Cougar XR7 428 Cobra Jet
convertible as an example. While we haven't covered the subject 100% in
this video (to keep it concise) we think this covers most of the major
components and gives you the knowledge you need to figure out what your
numbers mean. As mentioned in the video, we highly recommend Marti Auto
Works, especially his Tagbook, which made this video possible. Visit him
