How idle air control works
The idle air control valve is located on the throttle bore and is designed to adjust engine air intake at idle which controls the engine idle speed. The ECU receives feedback data from ECT sensor to send output signals designed to adjust the air passage open or closed which adjusts the engine idle speed.

This motor has winding phases and is actuated by the output signals of ECM. Each time the IACV opens or closes to change air quantity, the ECM sends a pulse signal to the motor. A certain voltage signal is issued so that the valve remains at a particular opening.
