Installing the padding kit for the VW Karmann Ghia Convertible. This involves a lot of detail work to get all the pieces to fit into place and make a smooth surface for the outer shell to stretch over.

VW Karmann Ghia - TMI Carpet Kit Install - Part 1
I made HUGE progress on the interior of the Karmann Ghia today. I got the heater channel "Y"s welded in, I got the kick panels made, I got the windlace (s) made, I got the windlace retainers striped and painted, I got the rear seat area covered in vinyl and I got a fair amount of the carpet kit from TMI installed.

This cute little Ghia has lived in a barn for the past 24 years! It is happy to be in my garage with other good VW company, but I already have a yellow Ghia Convertible so this one is up for sale. The long-time owner said he took the car out every year to keep things fresh. When I looked at the car he admitted it had been 3 years since it had been driven. The barn was on a dirt road way out in the Minnesota prairie. It was a fun find. Convertible Karmann Ghias are definitely one of my favorite barn finds for a classic car. Wrapping up the install on the Karmann Ghia windshield. Use Silicon or dish soad instead of Vasoline. Found out butyl rubber doesn't like petroleum jelly. If you are squeamish about seeing glass get hit with a hammer, turn the channel.
