"Flynnville Train" guitarist Brent Flynn racing his '62 Pontiac Catalina at Muncie Dragway.

Brent Flynn of "Flynnville Train" racing the 1962 Pontiac Catalina that his Father, Dave Flynn, raced for years. I think went 12.26 on this pass.

PONTIAC - stock Pontiac Super Duty 421v8/405hp vs stock Chevy 409v8/409hp on DYNO
WATCH THE VID TO SEE HOW CLOSE THEY Dyno TO THEIR FACTORY 405hp/409hp ratings. Growing up.....Pontiac/Oldsmobile old timers/EXPERTS who taught me most of what I know, often told me Chevy rated their horsepower in a more optimistic way than say Oldsmobile or Pontiac. I've even heard Pontiac rated/tested their engines in a 100 degree room, compared to Chevy in a 60 degree room. These Dyno results seem to reflect that some of what I heard was true. Both of these engines are great, but the results do seem to show that Pontiac was not rating their horsepower worrying if it would cause "songs to be written" about their engines .... like the great song "She's real fine my 409"--(Chevy).

PONTIAC Catalina (1962 SD421cid dual quad)
These rare cars ran mid 12s from the factory on lousy tires of the day, and with supertuning would hit 11s. With 0 to 60mph in around 5s from not getting all the power to the ground thru the tires, these engines had a lot of top-end acceleration to come back at the end of the track and achieve 11s/12s

Big Burnouts: 1964 Pontiac Catalina Safari - /BIG MUSCLE
If you haven't figured it out by now, we love wagons on this show. To some they're a misunderstood breed, but to those in the know, they're amazing. Not only were the wagons of yesteryear known for their styling, but their capacity to haul as much cargo as a modern day pickup. This 1964 Pontiac Catalina Safari started off life as a Police Wagon, but was transformed by its owner into the kick-ass, tire-shredding monster you see here. With a Nelson Racing Engines 468 cid big-block under the hood, some updated suspension bits and a killer look, this big green machine is outside-the-box styling at its best. Owner: • Mike Artman

Pontiac Banshee A Longer Look
The Banshee was a vision for what the Firebird could become. Of course, this concept car could never be built exactly, too low on the road and it wouldn't pass the safety and crash tests, but it was exciting. It demonstrated that the problem with GM cars didn't sit on the designers' shoulders. They were more than capable of dreaming up engaging and fun vehicles that would set imaginations on fire.
