ford falcon xr6 0-200 (manual, naturally aspirated/non turbo)
the car has a full Exhaust, intake,
stage 3 cam, & of course a Dyno tune.
Not sure why it shudders in gear 1 so much when trying to launch, its got a
bit of a clunking problem despite the rebuilt lsd diff and new
driveshafts.. perhaps the tyres are simply too wide.
update: i know why it shudders - it's called axle tramp (which is normal
and quite common in rwd cars), and i've already got rid of half of it + the
clunking is pretty much gone..
stiffer gearbox/engine/diff mounts is what you need to completely stop the

Groaning/Moaning Noise From Engine - Ford Falcon FG XR6 2008 6-Speed
I've got an annoying groaning noise coming from my car.
It's so hard to find out where it is, and I'm almost at the stage of giving
up and changing the engine just to get rid of it.
I've done some self diagnosis.
Here's all of the info I can provide, the video is to demonstrate the
- Happens between 1100-1400rpm mostly, although it can be reproduced by
light touch of the throttle when cruising at most RPM's below 3000.
- It occurs more in cold or dense weather and is louder in colder/denser
- It sounds like it's coming from the middle of the engine, but it's very
hard to pinpoint what side of the engine bay it is coming from. It's more
to the left of the engine bay, where the intake manifold is, but can also
be heard from the right before ignition.
- It sounds like something is pressurising, or air is in one of the fluid
systems i.e. power steering, transmission, fuel system
- A lot of people say that it's either: torque converter (I doubt it, car
isn't moving when the sound happens), secondary air pump, clogged
injectors, fuel pressure regulator (fuel rail, this is the only thing that
makes a noise during ignition), power steering pump/pressure lines, or fuel
- It happens also when the ignition is switched to "ON", increase your
volume to hear it better....
- I meant to say that the fuel rail vibrates when the noise happens.... not
that it groans.
- It CAN'T be the catalytic converter...... I just had it replaced, and all
bolts on the Exhaust system are

FG XR6 turbo 0-200. Factory standard.
Rolling on factory 19" rims, Toyo T1R. Brand new tyres, so grip is
fantastic. Usually it would wheelspin to 60, stuffing up the gear change,
but this time it was nice and smooth.
0-100: 4.9 seconds
0-200: 16.1 seconds
80-120: 2.5 seconds
Eased off a little after 200, was contemplating going to the 240 limiter
but the private racetrack had a corner coming up so I canned that idea.
Can't wait to start modding it.

Welcome back to the track Karman. After a 4 year absense the Ford XR6 turbo awoke first pass off the trailer. The
Falcon is still a full weight car with electric glass and factory interior.
Quickest pass for the day was an easy 9.0 at 151mph. The 4L turbo six is now using E85 fuel.
