While the weather may have been bitterly cold with racers risking frostbite, the track was kept hot with wall to wall action, and HP Heaven was there to capture it all! Original scheduled for the 2nd of October, in what ended up being a bizarre end to the AFL season with two Grand Finals played, the Calder Saturday meet was pushed back to Sunday to accomodate. Collingwood fans still jubilant of an impressive victory were amoungst the many competitors for the day, in a field which included Pistol Pete, Steve Athens, Billy 66, Deadli, Easy 8's, Ian Hicks, Michael Braggs and plenty of Fords, Holdens, Nissans, Subaru's and Mitsubishis. Michael Braggs certainly proved to be one of the many highlights for the occasion running his blown alcohol dragster for the first time, yet the day was fill with wall to wall excitment from start to finish. Whilst the Hoon Haven Friday Night Drag Meet at Calder Park Raceway began in a typical manner, it wouldn't stay that way for long. With history in the making as some drivers cracked their personal best, others the record and some just farwelled their car in style! World's Greatest Drag Race 2!
It's back! The World's Greatest Drag Race returns with nine of the world's best supercars, sports cars, and muscle cars for 2012 facing off in an epic quarter-mile sprint for glory... and ultimate bragging rights! This year's field includes all nine contenders from Motor Trend's 2012 Best Driver's Car competition. We have the Lamborghini Aventador, Nissan GT-R Black Edition, Ford Shelby GT500, McLaren MP4-12C, Jaguar XKR-S, Porsche 911 Carrera S, Subaru BRZ, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series and Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 -- all gathered together on an abandoned airstrip at El Toro Marine Base to find out which car is the fastest. Obviously these nine competitors display a wide range of power and performance, not to mention price tags. So why are we lining them all up again for one gigantic, over-the-top drag race? It's simple... Because We Can!

A big field on hand at Calder Park. Quickest turbo 6 for the night was John's AIR747 VL. John went a personal best 8.80/157 and then an 8.84. Frank's Pro-Tek Supra ran high 8s all night. Sinan's EL Falcon backing off -- 9.28. Also Includes many more 10-seocnd turbo 6s.

It was for the brave or perhaps the stupid, as we trecked into the heartland of Victoria, the home of heathcote park raceway, which as the rain drizzled with displeasure resembeled perhaps 'lake heathcote' more closely. Yet just like in showbiz the show must gone on and on the show did go, as the team successfully dried lane one and racing commenced. Yet it was ultimately to be short lived, as the clouds were to open again, and the drag track was returned to 'lake heathcote' - a wonderful fishing spot, with a dam so that the kids can swim in the summer!

As the summer continued to approach, the weather continued to warm up and in between sprouts of rain, it was apparent that the racing season was well and truly upon us.
With some sensational action throughout the relatively short night the 22nd of October highlighted what was to come. With Operation Drag Right racing in some of their unmarked vechiles, as well as their more traditional highway patrol marked cars, and the dragster out for some quick times, Michael Braggs was also out running in his new aquisition, while many of the street racers were pushing records. Lane two proved to be the lucky lane for the night, with most of the winning times recorded there. And of course Hp Heaven is pleased to bring you all the highlights so sit back and relax as we bring you the 22nd of October 2010 Friday night Drags from Calder Park Raceway over two parts.
