Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax vs. Turtle Wax ICE Spray Wax
This video is a direct comparison of the hydrophobic behavior of Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax and Turtle Wax ICE Spray Wax. The test sections were prepped using Meguiar's M205 followed by an IPA wipedown. Both products were allowed a 24 hour cure period before wetting. I'm definitely a fan of both of these spray waxes. Very easy to use, they won't stain your trim, and they definitely leave behind a high surface tension for great water beading. Use these as a drying aid while the car is wet for a "wax as you dry" product. Or use these after you've dried the car to get the most out of their hydrophobic behavior and durability. You can either use these by themselves with no base layer wax/sealant underneath, or use them as a wax Booster to help maintain the durability of the base layer product. They leave a very glossy and slick surface, and I haven't had streaking issues with either product on this paint. In the Ultimate Quik Wax directions it claims that you can use this product in full sunlight, I don't see anything in the ICE Spray Wax directions that makes this claim. They both smell great as well, especially the Ultimate Quik Wax. You'll usually find them priced in the U.S. around the $6 - $12 range, with Ultimate Quik Wax at 15.2oz and ICE Spray Wax at 20oz. In the next test with these products I will showcase the hydrophobic behavior after first applying Turtle Wax ICE Paste Wax as my base layer wax. After the cure period I will apply these spray waxes again, wait another 24 hours and then test to see how these two products affect ICE Paste Wax's surface tension. Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax & Ultimate Quik Detailer
This is a basic overview and water repellency test for both Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax and Ultimate Quik Detailer. The hood was prepped using M205, followed by an IPA wipedown prior to application. On the left side hood facing the car I applied Ultimate Quik Detailer(UQD), the right side hood has Ultimate Quik Wax(UQW). This is a water test after a 24 hour period of waiting. These products are very versatile and I enjoy using them. You can use both as a drying aid, mist onto the paint after a wash and rinse in order to help get water off and retain it into your drying towel more effectively. UQD is the type of product I would recommend if you determine that the car is not quite dirty enough for a full wash, but you want to give it a nice wipedown or dusting off, use it like this at your discretion. I would also recommend UQD for emergency bird bomb removal which in some cases can cause almost immediate etching if in a hot environment, UQD should get the job done safely. And UQW I would recommend for that Booster wax after washes when the car is fully washed and dried off. Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax has more durable polymers which will leave you with better protection compared to Ultimate Quik Detailer. Also, these are extremely easy to work with. They are both spray on wipe down products, they don't take any time to work into the paint, they flash quickly and you're then ready to move onto the next spot without worrying about smearing. It does not take much to get the job done, I usually use one or two sprays to do half a hood on a car like this, you do not have to over apply them for them to be effective. They also smell great, which is always a plus! Check out my other videos as well for more water tests and product reviews! Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax - Water Test
This is a water repellency test of Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax. This is a synthetic polymer based spray wax, I allowed it to cure for a period of two days before performing this water test. The car has been garaged the entire time and has not been driven. After a few minutes of wetting the surface tension of the spray wax begins to diminish, which is what I saw from their Ultimate Paste Wax. This does not mean that the level of protection is being diminished, I'm reserving making that judgement call until I become more educated on the properties of surface tension generated by waxes or sealants. I'm going to test to see if the surface tension resets after drying the panel and waiting another day before wetting again. Again, this is an observational based water test. That being said, I enjoy using Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax and I do recommend it. Easy to use, and the initial hydrophobic behavior is great. It will hide minor swirls, the panels feel very slick after applying, and yes, the smell is quite good.
