Germany March 2010 - after getting back the refurbished engine in February, I drove my 68 convertible through the cold bavarian landscape.

Driving my Karmann Ghia
The 1956 Karmann Ghia I own does get driven from time to time. I have friends who claim I 'never' drive it. This video shows that isn't the case.

1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Engine Start
First time starting up the 2333 cc engine (91x84mm) that I installed in my wife's freshly restored 1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible. Yes, I know my coil is installed upside-down. The after-market wire harness was installed with too little slack to reach a downward-pointing coil. This is temporary.

(HD) SCC: Volkswagen Karmann Ghia 1600 Cabriolet 1971 - Prueba de manejo - Test Drive
We make these videos because we love cars. Please help us keep making them by liking our videos. Thank you very much! Recently we came across this beautiful Volkswagen Karmann Ghia 1600 Cabriolet 1971 at The Gallery in Brummen, The Netherlands. This classic car dealer is one of the largest in the world. We took the car for a little spin! We love to hear your comments on our videos. Feel free to leave one! The Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is a sports car marketed in both 2+2 coupe (1955--1974) and convertible (1957--1974) body styles by Volkswagen. The Karmann Ghia combined the chassis and mechanicals of the Type 1 (Beetle) with styling by Luigi Segre of the Italian carrozzeria Ghia and hand-built bodywork by the German coach-builder Karmann. The Karmann Ghia was internally designated the Type 14. Volkswagen later introduced a variant in 1961, the Type 34, featuring angular bodywork and based on the newly introduced Type 3 platform. Production doubled soon after its introduction,[5] becoming the car most imported into the U.S.[5] American industrial designer Walter Dorwin Teague included the Type 14 in his list of the world's most beautifully designed products.[6] More than 445,000[3] Karmann Ghias were produced in Germany over the car's production life -- not including the Type 34 variant. Karmann Brazil produced 41,600 cars locally for South America between 1962 and 1975.

1966 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Restoration
This is a 1966 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia I recently did the finish body work and paint on. The sheetmetal replacement was performed by Kelly "Metwiz" Brown. Color is Porsche Guards Red. The car is going back to the owner for re-assembly. Music by The Wind-Ups.

1968 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia STK 1308
Volkswagen made this sweet 1968 Karmann Ghia for fun road trips. The 1.6L aircooled 4 cylinder motor and 4 speed manual transmission. A custom burgundy paint job with old school pinstripe will make this car stand out in any parking lot. A tan interior is the perfect accent color for this car. The AM/FM/CD radio lets the tunes play while you cruise down the road. Custom wheels and radial tires give this Karmann Ghia exactly what it needs. This vehicle is located in our Charlotte, NC showroom. For more information, please call (704) 598-2130 or toll free (866) 542-8392.

My 1974 Karmann Ghia
This is my 1974 Ghia. It was a hunk of junk when I first purchased it. Five years later after taking it compleatly apart it's now my favorite toy. 87mm pistons too. The gauges on the dash are VDO, but I purchased three "BUS" fuel gauges from junkyards. I removed the chromes rings and installed them on the new VDOs. Now they match the originals on the dash.

vintage! The Karmann Ghia | drive it!
It is a heartbreaker of a car, a real dreamboat and possibly the most beautiful VW ever built. However the sporty coupe does have one small drawback. Its design is far racier than its driving performance. The first Ghias were fitted wtih 30 horsepower VW Beetle engines, while later models got 50 horsepower motors. Still, when the Karmann Ghia was introduced back in 1955 this was more than enough to keep vehicles like the Goggomobil and BMW Isetta in check. During it's close to 20 years in production, some 443,000 Ghias were sold. Today this classic car has nothing left to prove. We take a relaxing drive in this stylish milestone of automotive history.
