Subaru R-STi - JDM vs USDM: A Friendly Rivalry -- /TUNED
In the US, we never got the best Subaru of them all, the first generation
WRX coupe, getting stuck with the fun-but-not-fast 2.5RS version. One of
the more popular upgrades for those cars is the "R-STi" drivetrain swap. In
the season premiere of Tuned, we look at two approaches: the USDM
drivetrain swap, and the JDM drivetrain swap. Which is better? You decide.
The 1,100 HP Switzer "Ultimate Street Edition" GTR - /TUNED
It wasn't long ago that driving a 1000+ horsepower car came with
many sacrifices. These were race or show cars, not to be used daily. Enter
the Switzer "Ultimate Street" GTR. On pump gas, it makes 1,000 horsepower with virtually no
downside. On race gas, it makes 1,100 horsepower. And the owner of
this particular GTR uses it as his daily driver to commute to work. Is
enough to get to the office? We'll find out.
**Update** 0-60: 2.5s, 1/4 Mile: 9.4 @ 150, Standing Mile 208 mph.
The 900 HP Heffner Twin Turbo Lamborghini LP-560 -- /TUNED
/Tuned goes to Sarasota to visit Heffner Performance, the first company to
ever build a twin-turbo kit for the
Lamborghini Gallardo. In a barely marked, unassuming suburban shop, Jason
Heffner turns out some of the tuning world's craziest creations. His
twin-turbo Lamborghini LP-560 seems so
right, however, that we feel it should be standard equipment from the
The 800 HP Formula Drift K.Sport 350Z - /TUNED
Tuned goes to Bondurant School of High Performance Driving to meet up with
Formula Drift driver Corey Hosford and his 800 HP Blown LS3 Nissan 350Z
Drift car. We learn what separates a drift car from a race car, and Matt
gets to work on his drifting technique behind the wheel of a monster race
Matt Farah's $500 Lemon -- /LIVE AND LET DRIVE
Alex teams up with TUNED's Matt Farah for a 3,000-mile trip into the wilds
of Canada to pick up a Honda CRX Farah bought for $500 -- sight-unseen.
Will it be the perfect 24 Hours of Lemons entry, or too much crap to
The 450 HP Crawford Performance Turbo BRZ - /TUNED
We love the FRS and BRZ twins; they offer an approachable limit of
performance and phenomenal dynamics in an affordable package. And we
learned earlier this season that a bolt-on turbo kit will add to the FRS's performance
without taking away from it's character. But what happens when you double
the BRZ's horsepower and triple it's
torque? We find out.
1100HP Real Street Performance Supra 3.4L Tuned by Jay Meagher
This video was shot/edited by Real Street Performance using some of TRC's

on the street!

Follow Real Street:
This is one of TRC's favorite Supra's we've ever come in contact with. It
is extremely clean and even faster
than it looks! Huge props to Geo and the team at Real Street!

The 700 HP RennTech CLS63 AMG - /TUNED
Hartmut Feyhl left AMG after 15 years to start his own tuning company,
RennTech, which is now one of the most respected AMG tuners in the world.
His products range from simple software upgrades to full racing builds
based on AMG street cars. We take his new, 700 horsepower CLS63 for a spin
and establish a new benchmark for luxury sedans: must be able to do
burnouts while moving at highway speeds.
The Tire-Punishing, 400HP Turbo BMW E30! - /TUNED
The BMW E30 is quickly becoming a cult classic among the DIY, autocross,
and track crowd. And though the M3 version may be climbing so quickly in
price, soon no one will be able to afford one, the 325i, as it turns out,
has some chops as a great platform for tuning. Kameron Baker's homebuilt
E30 is just about the nicest one we've seen, and if you think it looks
great, wait till you see how it drives.
The STILLEN 500 HP Supercharged Nissan 370Z - /TUNED
TUNED Visits racing legend Steve Millen's STILLEN in Costa Mesa, CA to see
what happens when he gets his hands on the Nissan 370Z. Already a potent
machine, what happens when STILLEN upgrades pretty much everything?
Fortunately, it doesn't suck.
The World's Fastest Lotus? - /TUNED
Frank Profera has spent six years making his Lotus go faster, stop shorter, and corner harder.
Though it only has to move around 2,150 lbs, Frank's Lotus makes 680 wheel
horsepower with a
twin-charged 1.8L engine; giving it a better power-to-weight ratio than
Mario Andretti's Formula One Lotus. It's an ongoing project that may never
be finished, because of Frank's never-ending obsession with speed. We had
to take it for a ride.
