We had just left the Goodwood Festival of Speed, when we were overtaken by the transit bodied Jaguar XJ220. It had been doing timed runs of the hill climb during the event and competed in the final 20 shootout on the sunday.
We decided to chases it down and show the driver our appreciation of the vechicle
Donington Park 2008 - Fast Transit Van Demonstration
Two demonstration laps by a very quick Ford Transit van during the BTCC event at Donington Park. Not sure what engine is in this van but I'm sure I heard over the tannoy that the shell is mounted on a Jaguar XJ220 chassis.

Jaguars were always known as the "gentleman's" sports car. There "civilized" performance and classic beauty has always been a mainstay in the automotive world. However, for one brief shining moment, Jaguar created a monster!!
The idea for the XJ220 was created out of a collaboration of engineers known as "The Saturday Club". This was an informal group of gear heads that included Jaguar chief engineer Jim Randle. Out of these meetings the concept for the XJ220 was born.
Originally intended to utilize a V-12 engine, it was decided that a turbo charged V-6 (a first for Jag) would be better suited, as more hp could be obtained by using this unit than the V-12. . . . More to come!

The V8 powered version of the ubiquitous Transit, this is a machine that caused a real stir when it first appeared on the scene. It's probably just as well, on reflection, that this particularly hairy machine never fell into the hands of White Van Man

This is by far the craziest car I've ever seen. It was so damn loud as well... This is also the rarest car I've seen on the streets (1 of 5 in the world!).
