'83 Mustang 5.3L Turbo LM7 Chevy. From a Dig on Street Tires
1983 Mustang GT. turbocharged 5.3L LM7 Stock Suburban motor. Master Power T70@10PSI. TH400 Transmission. 3.27 gears in the stock 8.8". 3200 RPM Stall Converter. Intercooled. Pump Gas Tune
Playing around with launching and such. No traction whatsoever. Street tires only in this video. I do have slicks for it and will have a track video when it opens back up in March. In this video when it broke loose I lifted, shifted up a gear and stabbed it again. Even at the end in 3rd, with the combo struggling to Boost and lugging it in 3rd gear...it still pulls out pretty hard.
Speedometer is accurate within ~5mph at the upper end.

3000 RPM stall installed. Problem at 5,500rpm, but you see the improvement.

Fighting traction the entire time, unable to say in it above 4500 rpm due
to wheelspin in 1st and 2nd.
I have slicks for it and will have videos/timeslips once the track opens up
in March 2012.
5.3 s10 vs 6.0 Turbo Silverado
silverado has a 6.0 with with a small 67mm front mount running 9lbs of Boost, methanol, ss3200 yank converter,
s10 has a 5.3 with a tr220 cam, ss3600 yank, stock 862 heads, tune

1986 third gen Trans Am turbocharged 5.3 LM7 LSx runs
Couple WOT runs in my 1986 trans. Setup is a 2005 5.3 stock bottom end,
317 heads, LS6 cam and valvesprings, LS6 intake manifold, and custom fabbed
turbo setup with a turbonetics 76mm ball bearing turebo. Currently
running 5 PSI but engine will take 12-14 PSI. Car has a T56 tranny with a
textralia clutch as well.
Trans AM FM MPT70 5.3L LM7 528hp 491tq (1BAD LS1)
This is my current setup, Front mount Master Power T70/.96AR turbo, Pullout 5.3L LM7 8.5:1 compression, 317
heads, 02 ZO6 Cam, COMP 7.425 pushrods, I Custom Fabbed the Merge pipe and
down pipe, FMIC, 9" 370 gears, VIG 3600, Tuned by me (1BAD_LS1 TUNING
It made 528HP and 491TQ with 22* timing, 14psi, 11.5afr at only 5600RPM
(trans was slipping like a mofo) it will make 600hp + easy! Those are the
best numbers the car put down because the trans/converter kept getting
worse and worse....
Those numbers were also made with a high stall auto Vig 3600 with a cracked
hub, a stock slipping 460e, and a 9" with 3.70's !!!!!!!!! I need a better
tranny/stall/gears because what i am running in not turbo friendly at all!
UPDATE... installed a th400 trans, new rear gears, and a few more psi!!!!
no Dyno numbers but i
would bet the car would put down close to 700HP!

The 5.3 got a little upset one day and melted the top of a piston....So,
we found a 6.0 Litre and put all the goodies in it from the 5.3 and opened
up the top ring gaps to 30 thou. Should be better now. Josh had it all up
and running again in a week! Has more jam at bottom end than the 5.3 he
The first Holley HP EFI Control unit quit working for no reason. Holley
were very helpful and after a month or two sent us a Second Gen ECU free of
charge. It worked again right out of the box and the old panel fired up
first turn, so we are ready for spring when it gets here.... By the way
the wastegates are now routed to the Exhaust, so no more smoky cab!!!
10.3 @ 132mph - 5.3L + Turbonium
Robert's S10 out at the Memphis Motorsports Park on July 24, 2009. Got in
the 14psi spring for the wastegate and went out to see what she'd do. Only
got the Boost up to 17psi on this
run, but 132mph isn't too shabby. 1.5 60' was pretty decent. With a
little more work she might visit the single digit timeslips!
The truck has a junkyard 5.3L that hasn't been touched. It has a little T4
based T76 turbo pumping up the jams.
The built powerglide handles the shifting back to the 9" rearend. 4 link
in the rear with stock, cut springs up front. It's nothing fancy yet, but
it's going way faster than we
thought it would already. More parts and faster times are coming!
How to Install a Comp Cam in a 5.3L LM7 Part 1
I show you the basics of installing a cam in a 5.3L (LS1 type engine). The
cam I install is a new Comp Cam part #54-455-11 with 215/223 Duration and
.604/.610 Lift on a 112 LSA.
To go along with the install I put in new 7.4" Hardened Chomoley Pushrods
and Comp 918 Valve Spring good for .625 lift.
