Sneak preview testdrive in the pre-production factory D8GTO car with Denis Donkervoort on the 18th of August 2012. This is the 340 BHP version. Our GTO Premium Edition with chassis 002 with 400 BHP is expected to hit the road spring - summer 2013. 0-100 km/h time: just 2.8 sec. AUDI 2,5L R5 TFSI, 5 cylinders in line. Total weight: under 700 Kg. Light weight carbon fiber / kevlar body.

This car has the 2.5 litre Audi inline-five engine used in the Audi RS3 and TT-RS and produces around the 400 bhp. The D8 GT has an Audi 1.8 litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 270 bhp. This is the new 270bhp, 650kg Donkervoort GT. Lotus (Caterham) Super Seven First Ride
Poor car had been sitting for quite a while. Drained out the old gas, put in some fresh high octane. Did an oil and filter change. Cranked it for a while with plugs out until oil pressure registered. After that it started right away and I got to take it for a run around the (startled) neighbourhood. Still needs a tuneup and maybe fiddling with jets or timing/advance curve. Engine is 1700 Ford crossflow in "Super Sprint" tune. You can really hear the straight cut gears! Camera is latest Go Pro HD mounted on roll bar. I will try it again with the open case so we can hear more engine noise.
