Seating Information for the Abu Dhabi F1 - West and North Grandstands
This is a video I have put together for those looking to book seats for the
Abu Dhabi F1 in either the West or the North Grandstands. The video will
give you an idea where certain sections, rows and seats are relative to the
corner, TV screens, main straight etc. Unfortunately they have the thickest
hand rails known to mankind (but only on every second aisle), so this needs
to factor into your decision. Re the West Stand (on the straight), unless
you are the kind of person who can happily watch a tennis match from the
first row, I think being closer to the corner is better. However if you get
to close to the corner you can no longer see down the main straight/pit
lane. You can see from the video what sections will give you a view down
the main straight. Tickets go on sale very early and you can ring Yas
Marina and order the exact seat you want. Warning: they might sell them
early, but they only send them 2-3 weeks before the race which is not much
use if you have left on your trip by then (they won't do "pick up at box
office" and so sending them to your hotel is the only, albeit risky,
option). This was filmed at the 2012 race. Hopefully some of you find this
useful - please give this video a thumbs up if you find it useful.

F1 Track test on Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi
A test drive on the Yas Marina circut in Abu Dhabi. The Yas Marina Circuit
has been announced as the venue for a Formula One race in 2009, the event
to be named the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. It will be a newly-built circuit
designed by Hermann Tilke, on Yas Island, about 30 minutes from the
country's capital Abu Dhabi. Yas Marina will be the second Formula One
track in the Middle East, with the first being in Bahrain. A GP2 test race
will officially open the circuit, which will be held the week before the
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. It will also host the opening event for the
Australian V8 Supercars series in February 18-20 2010.
The Yas island is the site of a US$40 billion development project by Aldar
Properties. It occupies a total land area of 2,500 hectares, of which 1,700
hectares will be claimed for development. The island will feature
attractions such as a motor sports racetrack which will be used to host the
Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from 2009 onwards, a movie theme park by
Warner Bros called Warner Bros Movie World, hotels, the Ferrari theme park,
water park, and the Abu Dhabi destination retail development of 300,000 sq
m retail area, links and parkland golf courses, lagoon hotels, marinas,
polo clubs, apartments, villas and food and beverage outlets that will
create a tourist destination.

Any drift fans looking at these video now might be thinking, " a Drift UAE
event? At Yas Marina? How did I manage miss this one?"
Calm your tickers. This wasn't an official Championship round of the
2012/2013 Drift UAE season. The video you see here are actually part of a
new initiative --set up by series owner Mohammed Al Falasi -- which will
see new and old competitors to the drift scene alike get two practice
evenings a month.
The newly made decision is partly down to series organisers but also part
of a call from competitors too, especially those looking to get some cheeky
time on-track in without the media crawling all over the results. Oops!
The events have been broken down into three separate categories: those
entering 'Street' can enter street-legal cars with mild modifications;
'Modified' is, well, pretty self explanatory when we're talking about
engine and suspension mods; and the 'Pro' is for your crème de la crème
on the drifting circuit, and their specifically tuned torqued-up horses.
The most recent practice round took place at the Yas Marina Circuit, where
most of the forthcoming events will also take place (although there are
rumours that the Al Ain Raceway might be the next venue).
Competitors -- many of whom were taken under the wing of circuit
instructors on the night -- were given several hours to perfect their
high-speed runs, handbrake turns, and throwing the car into quick
succession left and right corners. Also on hand during the evening was
Zdegree, who provided tyres and support trucks.
Around 120 spectators were on-hand to witness the 15 competitors do their
best to make their tyres beg for mercy, and looks like they won't have to
wait too much longer for the next round. The next practice event for Drift
UAE (now run under the Emirates Motorsport Federation) is due to take place
at the end of the month.

Onboard Yas Marina (Abu-Dhabi) V8 Supercars ME Round 4, Race 1 (Abdulaziz Al-Yaeesh)
http://www.driver-coaching.com - Onboard footage from the Chevy Lumina V8
of Abdulaziz Al-Yaeesh from Yas Marina in Race 1 of the Chevrolet Supercars
Middle-East Championship. The V8s were supporting the GP2 Asia
Championship. They had previously supported the F1 Grand-Prix in Abu-Dhabi
and less than 1 weeks time will play support to the awesome Holdens and
Fords of the Aussie V8 Supercar Championship.
The video covers the 1st 9 minutes of the race when Abdulaziz was battling
with his rivals Tarek ElGammal and Fahad Al-Musalam. The 2nd part of the
race was fairly boring for Abdulaziz with too big a gap to those in front
and no-one chasing him.
As you can see the track was very slippy and even the GP2s had problems. A
Great win from Oliver Turvey in Race 1 was topped (IMO) by an awesome
performance from Davide Valsecchi in Race 2 and an equally impressive one
from GP2 newcomer Jules Bianchi who made some aweseome overtaking moves.
Video system used was VIDEO4 from Race-Technology. Check out my channel
