Mercury Cougar - American Muscle Car
An excellent TV show featuring the classic Mercury Cougar. They cover all
the classic years, and talk about all the different engines and option
packages you could get. Only a couple minor mistakes (they say the that
XR-7 package included a 4-speed stick, then show an automatic shifter in
one... derrr) but overall a very nice overview of these cars.
1968 Cougar 427 GT-E at Barrett-Jackson, Scottsdale 2011
This is the story of Brian Aust and his 1968 Mercury Cougar 427 GT-E. Over
the course of about 5 years, he undertook a painstaking restoration to
bring the car to the highest level he could, with a little help from his
friends (and lots of advice from folks on http://www.mercurycougar.net ).
On January 22, 2011, he drove it onto the auction block at Barrett-Jackson,
stepped out, and watched it sell for... well, you'll just have to watch to

Front Suspension & Chassis Upgrades - '68 Cougar / Mustang
In this video, we show some of the ways you can easily stiffen your car's
chassis and upgrade your front suspension. Using Andrew's '68 Cougar as a
guinea pig, we bolt on, and weld on, some simple parts that will make a big
difference in reducing the torsional flex that these front ends are prone
to, as well as improving the integrity of the shock towers.

67-68 Cougar Buying Guide: What To Look For
In this video, Don does a detailed inspection on a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7
to show some of the things you should look for when buying one of these
classic cars. Some of the insight here can potentially save you hundreds,
even thousands, when you go to negotiate with a seller. Also, it will help
those of you trying to sell, to more accurately advertise the strengths and
weaknesses of your car.
We've also done a similar video with a 1970 Cougar convertible, so you may
want to check that out too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fizb2vo68vA

Plastic Chrome Restoration for Classic Cougars
Using Cougar dash bezels as an example, Don discusses different methods of
"re-plating" the simulated chrome on plastic parts. With costly and
fragile vacuum plating and electroplating being the only viable options in
the past, we are proud to introduce a revolutionary new paint process that
is much more durable, costs less than older methods, and looks fantastic.
We are offering restoration services for these dash pieces, as discussed in
this video, and soon hope to offer the same service for other plastic
"chrome" parts, such as door panel trim and more.

1968 Mercury Cougar XR7 Coupe GT 6.5 litre (390 Big Block)
Have had this project for some time now, and don't have the time it
deserves to be put into it. This is a very very rare car. Most of the
Cougars you may find have the 289 ci V8. This car has the 390 big block
-The power is unbelievable.
Back in the day, Ford marketed the Mustang "for the man starting out",
the Mercury Cougar was marketed as for "the man who was on his way". (The
Thunderbird was marketed for "the man who had arrived") Car is
unbelievably powerful, pulls rubber in all 3 gears. I have had the car for
a long time, started it several times every year. But it is time to let it
go to a good home. This is a numbers matching authentic S code 390 Cougar
These are unique and beautiful cars.

Zoe - West Coast Classic Cougar Request
My daughter Zoe is trying to receive a 1967 Mercury Cougar GT 4 Speed Car
from West Coast Classi Cougars in Oregon. This is her Video submission.
Please West Coast Classic Cougar help my dauger with her dream of owning a
Myself I still own my 67 Mercury Cougar that I built in high school (zoe
is going to the same school). My wife still has her 1968 Mercury Cougar
xr7 Gt which was her first car. We are all Members of the Mercury
StrayCat's Cougar Club. My wife and myself were a couple of the founding
members. I think Zoe would be a good fit to restore the 1967 Mercury
Cougar Gt and keep it for years to come. One thing I am not seeing often
is younger people restoring the old cars. If young kids do not keep up the
hobby who will?? Lord Lucas and his Leadfoot Ladies will. Please let West
Coast Classic Cougars know that you also want to see a young girl (who by
the way does already drive a manual transmission) restore and keep another
Mercury Cougar Alive !!!
The Story Of Cougar 1: The First Mercury Cougar
A while back, we sat down with Jim Pinkerton, the owner of the very first
production Mercury Cougar (1967 model year), a.k.a. Cougar 1. We hit the
"record" button on our cameras and he let loose with an epic tale of how
the car was first sold in Canada, its subsequent life there, and how it
eventually got into his hands - an intriguing story! He also goes over some
of the unique features of the car, and some of the restoration techniques
used. It's a truly beautiful factory show car with more attention to detail
than the 'average' Cougar.
Special thanks to Jim Pinkerton for his time, and for providing most of the
images you see in this video from his own collection of Cougar memorabilia.
