When I was buying it, I sent the company a question about exactly how loud
it was, and they responded quickly and completely:
"In CA we must adhere to a 95 db limit, which the Racing Beat 04-08
Mazda3 Exhaust system is in compliance
with. However, this is a
controlled test in which the sound meter gauge is placed 18" from the
muffler tip and the engine is held at a specified steady-state RPM
during the sound test. Since we rarely stand with our ear in exactly
this same manner... this test is hardly any use for letting you know how
the Exhaust will actually sound from
inside the car... while you're
In a nutshell, the Mazda3 Exhaust
system that we developed will produce
a very deep, throaty tone, without any harsh buzzy or raspy tones. We
prefer a more "grown-up" sound for our Exhaust applications and steer
away from the "Honda boy-racer" sound that seems to be popular with many
of the cheap import systems on the market. Most people love the sound
our Exhaust systems for this reason
and we're known for having one of
the more sporty and reasonable Exhaust
line on available for the Mazda
