The 'War Horse' Tank
The Tank Museum has obtained the tank used in Steven Spielberg's new World
War One blockbuster Warhorse.
The fully operational replica of a British Mk IV tank is set to go on
display when the film is released next week, and will also be used in the
Dorset based Museum's tank displays later in the year.
The full sized replica was based on the Museum's own Mark IV, which was
built in 1917. OSCAR award-wining special effects company Neil Corbould
Special Effects LTD, whose credits include Saving Private Ryan and
Gladiator, visited The Tank Museum in 2010 to take measurements from the
vehicle and copy original documents related to the MK IV tank held in the

The Road Under Your Rubber
Wherever you travel across this land, you'll see that Chevy Silverado is on
the job. Carrying the weight. Building the bridges. Working the family
farms. And sometimes, just working to take a break from it all. Whether you
need a pickup truck to haul a truckload of materials to a job site or
simply haul it out of town for a weekend camping trip, you need a pickup
that works for you — even when you're not working. That truck is the 2012
Silverado 1500, the long-lasting, dependable full-size pickup truck that
fits your lifestyle.
From getting there to getting away from there, Chevy Runs Deep.
What Makes a Silverado a Silverado?
You can count on Chevy to take a great truck and make it even greater. For
2012, many models have a fresh new look, but underneath they're still the
Silverado 1500 on which you've come to depend. Like most Silverado models,
they're equipped with smooth responsive handling and the StabiliTrak®
Electronic Control System that now includes Trailer Sway Control and Hill
Start Assist (excludes Silverado Hybrid).
There's One Place Like Home
You buy a truck for its capability, but you still like your creature
comforts. And Silverado has plenty: low step-in height for easy access,
dual-firmness foam for outstanding seat comfort, generous front-seat
legroom and abundant storage are just some of its features. Some are
standard, some are optional—all are part of the Silverado experience.
Heated and Cooled Seats
A new option for the 2012 Silverado 1500 LTZ is the available heated—and
cooled—front seats for year-round comfort.
170 degree opening extended cab doors for easy loading, locking underseat
storage, dual glove boxes, near-flat load floor in crew cabs, one-hand flip
up rear bench seat make it easier to load Silverado for the task at hand.
The Work Ethic You Love. The Power and Payload You Need.
Every proven Vortec™ V8 engine available on Silverado is capable of
generating over 300 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft.
of torque. Or step up to the available Vortec 6.2L V8 that generates 403
horses and 417 lb.-ft. of torque. Not surprisingly, all that power is
complemented by a lot of payload capability: 1,937 lbs. for Crew Cab and
1,908 lbs. for Extended Cab models with the available MAX Trailering Pack
Pulls Its Weight, And Then Some
With the available MAX Trailering Pack, Extended Cab models can tow 10,700
lbs. and Crew Cab models can pull 10,600 lbs.8 The package includes:
A hydroformed fully boxed front frame section allows for fewer welds and
provides immense overall strength and durability. The rear frame is also
fully boxed back to the spare tire crossmember, where it becomes C-channel.
This ingenious, strong design Boosts
payload capacity without adding unnecessary mass.
When it comes to ride and handling, Silverado's coil-over-shock front
suspension and a wide front track provide great on-center feel, smooth out
minor road irregularities, and supply excellent handling and stability.
Durable, fade-resistant front and rear shocks supply an unexpectedly smooth
and controlled ride.

Towing and Hauling
Silverado's Tow/Haul Mode enhances performance while pulling a trailer or
hauling heavy loads. When activated, this feature modifies the automatic
transmission shift schedule and helps reduce throttle pedal activity by the
driver while traveling over rolling terrain. New for 2012, is Cruise Grade
Braking, which uses transmission downshifts to allow engine compression
braking to slow the vehicle and it's load. It works in and out of Tow/Haul
Mode on 5.3L and 6.2L engines.

2012 Chevrolet Sonic Kick Flip
MTV-reality and action sports-star Rob Dyrdek successfully performed a kick
flip in the all-new 2012 Chevrolet Sonic on Saturday.
A kick flip -- a 360-degree rotation in mid-air -- is a common stunt on a
skateboard. Not so much in a vehicle. But Dyrdek, host of MTV's Fantasy
Factory and Ridiculousness, and the Chevy Sonic are up for trying 'firsts.'
"A kick flip with a Chevy Sonic was a no-brainer," said Dyrdek. "I am a
Chevy guy from my '69 Camaro to the Tahoe I drive every
day. The Sonic's power and sportiness made it the perfect vehicle for this
Dyrdek performed the stunt before spectators at Six Flags Magic Mountain,
while MTV filmed the feat for the Season 5 premiere of Fantasy Factory.
Dyrdek executed the kick flip over the world's-largest skateboard that he
created for a previous stunt.
"With his outrageous personality and his willingness to try any adventure
once, Rob Dyrdek was the perfect match for the Sonic and our 'Let's Do
This' campaign," said Kevin Mayer, director of Chevrolet advertising and
The Sonic brought safety chops to the stunt with a Top Safety Pick
designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 10 standard
air bags and high-strength steel as part of its body structure.
"I was confident that it would keep Rob safe even during a high-speed
action stunt," said Mayer.

2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ Turbo
Generations have grown up trained to shop the import brands for a good
subcompact car. Sonic is out to make waves in the segment and change that
kind of thinking. Tom Voelk takes a look at a turbo LTZ model.
