They are similar to the 2011's, but have a couple of extra options like the "all new" standard color touch radio as well as the convex mirrors and flex fuel capability on the 4 cylinder models. 2012 GMC Terrain | Small SUV | Vehicle Overview
The 2012 GMC Terrain Small SUV is overviewed by Tim Herrick (Global Vehicle Chief Engineer), Dave Poniatowski (Production Manager), and Lisa Hutchinson (Crossover Product Manager). They explain how the Terrain's high tech engine has great fuel economy with the benefits of a crossover for carrying passengers or cargo. The 112"" wheel base is the largest in its segment which provides for an easy 2nd row entry and egress.

The Terrain also comes available with two drivetrains, the front wheel drive and the all wheel drive (AWD), both of which are available in the 2.4 liter 4 cylinder (estimated 32 miles per gallon (mpg) on the highway) and the 3 liter 6 cylinder.
The designers really focused on quality and professional grade engineering for the Terrain. This is most noticeable with sound and the fact the Terrain is a quiet vehicle. It has high end features you would not expect in a compact SUV.
The rear entertainment system is optional equipment, and comes only with the High Feature NAV Radio.
