2014 Porsche Cayman S! Is the Lightest Porsche Now the Best Porsche? - Ignition Ep. 73
On this episode of Ignition, Carlos Lago gets behind the wheel of the newest iteration of Porsche's Cayman line, the 2014 Porsche Cayman S. After some twisty road driving, Carlos meets up with pro driver Randy Pobst at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to discuss the capabilities of the new Cayman on the track. It's track ready, balanced, and can go from 0-60 in 4.2 seconds... but is it worth it's fully loaded six figure price tag? First previewed on its Boxster platform-mate, and shown at last year's Los Angeles Auto Show, the new Cayman looks more aggressive than its predecessor. From the 918 Spyder-aping looks to the scalloped air intakes on the doors to the silicone-injected hips, the car looks buffer. It's larger, too. The wheelbase has been stretched by 2.4 inches, while the overhangs on either end have been shortened by 10mm. Overall length is only up 0.1 inch. The track has been widened 40/12mm front/rear. 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS: Mid Engine Perfection & The Biggest Threat to the 911! – Ignition Ep. 124
On this episode of Ignition presented by Tire Rack, Jonny Lieberman tests the second generation Cayman in its most potent form yet. Packing 340 horsepower from an uprated 3.4 liter flat six, the Cayman GTS makes 15 horsepower more than the Cayman S and only 10 fewer than a base 911, while weighing hundreds of pounds less. With the additional power, is the Cayman GTS now a real threat to the 911, or is it simply a cynical marketing exercise from Porsche? Stay tuned and find out! 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata: Does It Actually Get Any Better Than This? - Ignition Ep. 137
On this episode of Ignition presented by Tire Rack, Jonny Lieberman heads to Scotland to get his hands on the latest iteration of Mazda’s famed and legendary roadster, the Miata. Motor Trend, having much to do with the creation of the first generation of this car, was particularly excited about covering this new model, considering the last generation model debuted nearly 10 years ago. The new Miata, featuring a 2.0l engine outputting 155 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque, aims to accomplish what made the original Miata such a good car, but is it actually better than the first, second, and third generation cars? Stay tuned while Jonny finds out. 2016 Volvo V60 Polestar: The Hottest Wagon of Them All? - Ignition Ep. 146
Volvo has a history of making high-performance station wagons, and this one is the fastest yet. In fact, it’s the third-quickest wagon Motor Trend has ever tested, thanks to all-wheel drive and a 345-hp turbocharged straight-six: 0-60 happens in just 5.0 seconds. It comes outfitted from the factory with Öhlins dampers, 6-piston Brembo brakes, Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, and enough cargo capacity to empty out your local supermarket. We love wagons because they lose almost nothing in performance compared to the sedans they’re based on — and they’re often even better-looking. This Volvo is easily the prettiest wagon around (especially with the Thule roof rack we put on it), and it sounds as great as it looks. On this episode of Ignition, presented by Tire Rack, Motor Trend Senior Features Editor Jason Cammisa takes to the mountains to show us just how great Sweden’s winter hot-rod does in the snow.
