2015 Audi A8 3.0 TDI (258hp) - 0-220 km/h acceleration (1080p)
Fast Autobahn acceleration test with the recently facelifted 2014/2015 Audi A8 3.0 TDI Clean Diesel developing 258 hp and 580 Nm of torque over a wide powerband. In contrast to the A6/A7 that feature a 7-speed S-Tronic with this engine the A8 always comes standard with the great 8-Gear ZF transmission. As you can see in the acceleration clip the transmission has fast gear changes and the car accelerates pretty decent to 200 km/h despite the weight of almost 2 tones. In comparison, a LCI BMW 740d is around 1.5 sec. faster to 200 km/h, but also having more horsepower (313) and a bit more torque (630). Let's Drive: Audi A8 3.0 TDI @ Fast Drive // 40 km German Autobahn
Gran Turismo - that's what Audi's flagship is build for. But it got another side: Powerful dynamic. Although it's not a light weight (kerb weight 1955 kg). I've taken the challenge and put drive select on "Dynamic" - which means: hardened steering, musculous sound, stiffened chassis. The 8-speed tiptronic also wearing sporty ambitions while staying in S-Modus. So, let's see what this entry-level Diesel can do! Maybe you'll recall the track. Not for sure, but the A7 was equipped with S-Line package and summer tires. That might explain it's higher grade of stability. Die schnellen Kurvenfahrten vermittelten im A7 aber ein sichereres Gefühl, der A8 rollte dagegen bereits auf Winterreifen.
