Warming up in the Cathederal Paddock on Sunday morning 3rd July 2011. Loud? I've stood next to plenty of F1 cars and this was certtainly no quieter. Although it has only a 9000rpm max engine speed, with 12 combustion cycles PER REVOLUTION (unlike a 4 stroke V12 whihc would only have 6) this car produces 108,000 combustion cycles per minute. That is 36,000 more than a current 2.4l F1 car at 18000rpm! This is the only real running 787B, there is however a second car which sports the same detailing (even down to Le Mans 1991 driver names) which is in much better (less faded, and less battle scars) whihc is used as a PR car. This car was a static display on the Mazda Cars UK stand also at Goodwood that day. Enjoy!

To mark the 90th anniversary of the 24h of Le Mans, 11 legendary winning cars were chosen by the public and a jury. They did 2 slow parade laps before the actual FIA WEC race would start. One of these was this Mazda 787B. This is the actual winning car from the 1991 24 hours of Le Mans. Driven to victory by Bertrand Gachot, Johnny Herbert and Volker Weidler.
