Drayton Manor Mg Metro Cup Oulton Park 2014
Another great race with the Metro Cup lot.
The car was working great with all the wheels pointing in the right
direction and the chronic oversteer sorted. A new Exhaust replaced the previously restrictive one,
and whilst not a leap in power, it has helped in reducing the speed in
which I go backwards in a straight line, so we'll keep working on that.
Quali was hard to get a clear lap as I was late to assembly due to an ill
timed visit to the WC haha. So most of the session was spent trying to
clear traffic and get a clear lap, which I did on the last lap for 4th.
I got a traditionally bad start and went from 4th to 6th, but the pace of
the car was really good this race and I was able to work my way up to 3rd
again. I tried my best to catch Mike, and at one point I thought I was but
began trying too hard and making small mistakes which opened up the gap.
Ultimately I wasn't going too unless Mike made a mistake, but he didn't.
It was a great feeling race with all going well, knocking 1.6 secs off my
quali time but I was most happy with closing the lap time difference
between myself and Tom/Mike......especially on a long lap circuit!
