Bonneville Speed Week 2010: THE RUN, Feat. the Spectre Performance SpeedLiner

This video follows a single run of the Spectre Performance SpeedLiner, where we broke the A/BGS record and became the fastest A class blown gasoline streamliner on earth and the fastest Cadillac in history. The next mission is to break 400mph and become the fastest gasoline powered, wheel driven car in history.
Burt Munro's 1920 Indian Scout
This is the 1920 Indian Scout built and driven by Burt Munro. Jay Leno on commentary. Three times during the '60's it set the World's fastest flying mile record for motorcycles under 1000cc at the Bonneville Salt Flats. This is not the reproduction used in the "The World's Fastest Indian" starring Anthony Hopkins, but the actual bike that set the record. Fortunately this is the second year of the Concours d'Elegance to feature motorcycles on the green. This year they featured the salt flat racers and their contribution to Hot Rodding. I was very lucky to see and hear this amazing piece of history.

What started as just a sport has evolved into a vibrant culture anchored in history and a shared love for living life at the limits.

Speed Demon 426 mph Run - Cockpit View
The Speed Demon streamliner makes a 426 mph pass at Bonneville this week. This video shows the cockpit view from just over driver George Poteet's right shoulder.
Ferrari 288 GTO Rebody at Bonneville Salt Flats - World's Fastest Ferrari 275.4 mph
This is the fastest Ferrari in the world. It currently holds the AA\BFMS record at 275.4mph. This was done with a down run of 276.152mph and a return run of 274.650mph. Unofficially the car has gone 292.3mph a couple years ago under different conditions. The car is powered by a 540 cubic inch BBC with twin Borg Warner 80mm turbo. The Boost level during the record runs was 17lbs.
We have built 6 of these cars and this car is the only on the does not have Ferrari power. The reason for this is that at Bonneville classes are separated by engine size. Currently Ferrari only builds engines up to 6 liter (V-12). To run in class B, A or double AA you must run larger cubic inch engines. We have run Ferrari powered cars in classes F (3.0 liter) and class C (5.0 liter) we also plan to run in class G (2.0 liter) next year.
We are Ferrari guy's and would love to use only Ferrari power if larger engines were available.

Rhys Millen's Pikes Peak World Record Attempt
On June 27, 2010, Rhys Millen attempted to beat the current "Unlimited Class" World Record of 10:01.408 at the 88th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the "Race to the Clouds." For 10 years, it has been Rhys' dream to break the 10-minute barrier and this year he hoped to capture the elusive record and return it to the Millen name. This is look at his run and the challenges he faced in his custom built Genesis PM580: a 1,850 pound, 750 horse power V6 designed specifically to conquer the 156 turns of this 12.52 mile course (of which this year, half is pavement) that begins at 9,390 feet and finishes at the 14,110 foot summit.
