Fujifilm Touring Car Trophy @ Silverstone Classic 2012 Race 1
First race of the Fujifilm Touring Car Trophy during the great Silverstone Classic event.
You're onboard in the number 5 BMW E30 M3 Group A 1991, driver: Jan Bot.
Non-sequential gearbox, No ABS (broken) and 'just' a 2.3 NA four cilinder.
We mounted the microphone in front of the airbox for some proper sound:)
This is what you get if you mix 15 years of genuine WTCC, Group A, BTCC, DTM and Super Tourers in one grid: Great racing.
Qualified 10th in the wet and had only 6 practice laps in the dry.
In the first few laps there is a lot of pressure from behind, a couple of BTCC Sierra's, a DTM M3, a BTCC Mondeo, a BTCC Primera and even a WTCC Alfa are battling it out. Whenever i seem to miss the apex, it's because somebody was there !
Most of them get by on the straights, especially the turbocharged Sierra's whith their 450bhp..
After a couple of laps the tires warm up, or burn down in case of the Sierra's, and i manage to recover a few places and finnish 7th, first in class, in front of all the Sierra's and first after the Super Tourer/WTCC cars. A great result.
In the last lap there is some unfortunate contact with the red Sierra..

Terrible start thanks to a couple of drivers I won't name who seemed incapable of holding their grid position on the warm-up lap.

Any sort of result was always going to be an up hill struggle against a grid of Super Tourers, DTM's and Cossie's but at least I made the most noise!
Linder BMW M3 E30 auf dem Hockenheimring
http://www.botspeed.eu erstes Rennen der niederländischen Youngtimer Touring Car Challenge mit Jan Bot im Lindner BMW M3 E30 auf dem Hockenheimring im Programm des Bosch Hockenheim Historic. Im ersten Rennen fuhr Jan souverän auf den vierten Gesamtrang, das zweite Rennen endete mit technischem Defekt durch eine gebrochene Vorderradaufhängung.
Das Fahrzeug wurde 1991 von Linder nach dem Gruppe A Reglement aufgebaut für Rainer Fink, der damit Bergrennen bestritt. Das Fahrzeug entspricht weitgehend der 1991er DTM version, allerdings mit kleinerem Tank und ohne Kohlefaserteile im Flügelwerk und den Türen.
The car was build/prepared for the 1991 Deutsche Bergmeisterschaft and European Hillclimb Championship for Rainer Fink (an european hillclimb champion) by Linder to group A specs. The specs of the car are allmost the same as the 1991 DTM cars, only the feul tank is smaller and there is no carbon/plastic in the wings and windows and doors.

Race 2 of the weekend.
At the start i get a bit caught up behind a Primera and everything with a turbo shoots forward..
Immediately there is a lot of pressure from behind and at the national straight the M3 DTM just has the edge in straighline performance. On Hangar straight a blue bullet shoots through, but on the brakes he blocks his rear wheels.. This wasn't an unfamiliair sight as it spun out for the same reason in front of me in race 1.
When i get the opportunity to out brake him on the chicane after the first lap i'm very cautious..this is where he spun out to the left, where i'm now, in race 1..
And indeed.. you can see his nose pointing in the wrong direction and almost taking me out. A little evading manouvre and a wide line sort the trouble, but i suddenly find the Primera and even the 1800RS in front of me!
This wasn't according to plan, i wanted to join the front runners!
Well, you can't have it all, so just get on with it.
The RS1800 takes just one lap, but the RS500 proves to be a headache! It's very difficult to overtake a car with so much power. In the end he makes a little mistake when entering the chicane and i can sneak past..
The M3 is next and with some gentle pressure slides off..
In the distance i can make out a red Sierra, the distance is decreasing rappidly but unfortunately the race is one lap too short..
First in class, 7th in general behind a bunch of super tourers and a Sierra.. not bad again!
