Nun fuhren wir den neuen VW Golf 7. Wir wollten wissen, ob und wie sehr der Neue die Messlatte höher legt. Schon nach wenigen Kilometern über enge, kurvenreiche Straßen durch die Hügel von Sardinien waren wir uns einig: Die siebte Generation des Golf hält den Abstand, sowohl zu den eigenen Vorgänger als auch zu denen, die sich ebenfalls als Golf-Klasse verstehen.
2013 Volkswagen Golf 7 â–º INTERIOR
The new Golf is 2.2 inches longer than the old car, with an overall length of 167.5 inches. Similarly, the wheelbase has grown by 2.3 inches to 103.8 inches. Since the front wheels are now located 1.7 inches further forward, the proportions are sportier, the crash structure is improved, and the interior package further optimized. The new car is 0.8 inches lower and 0.5 inches wider than the old car.
The new Golf is more spacious, with a passenger compartment that is 0.6 inches longer than before, giving 0.6 inches more rear kneeroom. Shoulder room is improved by 1.2 inches in both the back and front of the car. Cargo capacity has also been enhanced, while the load area is more accessible.
A key feature of the interior is a new infotainment system, which incorporates a five-inch touchscreen, even on entry-level European models. At the top end, the Golf features a navigation system which has a large, eight-inch touchscreen.
One benefit of lowering the Golf's weight is better fuel economy: the European-market 1.4 TSI® that uses a 140-horsepower, turbocharged, 1.4-liter engine fitted with cylinder de-activation gets a European Cycle combined fuel consumption figure of 49 mpg, while the base 105-horsepower TDI® Clean Diesel engine delivers 62 mpg on the EC combined cycle.

Yeni nesil (2013) Volkswagen Golf Mk7'nin İtalya'nın Sardunya adasında düzenlenen basın test sürüşü aktivitesinde kaydettiğimiz görüntüler. Test aracımızda 1.4 litrelik, EA211 serisi, turbo beslemeli TSI motor bulunuyordu. Bu yeni motor serisinin alüminyum alaşımlı motor bloğu, eskiye göre 16 kg daha hafif. Bunun dışında silindir kafasına entegre edilmiş egzoz manifoldu gibi değişiklikler de mevcut. Bu uygulama sayesinde motorun ideal çalışma sıcaklığına daha çabuk ulaştığı belirtiliyor.
7 ileri oranlı DSG şanzımanla kombine edilen ve 4500-6000 d/d aralığında 140 HP güç, 1500-3500 d/d aralığında 250 Nm tork üreten bu motorun en büyük özelliği ise yakıt tüketimini düşürmek amacıyla 2 silindirini kapatması. ACT (Active Cylinder Management -- aktif silindir yönetimi) adlı bu sistem sayesinde 4 silindirin ikisine (2. ve 3. silindirler) yakıt püskürtmesi durdurulabiliyor.

The VW Golf is the benchmark that all family hatchbacks, such as the Ford Focus, Vauxhall Astra and Renault Megane, measure themselves against. This seventh-generation caris up to 100kg lighter than the one it replaces, despite being longer and wider and offering more boot space and interior room. It's slightly lower, too, which gives it a sportier stance to go with its sharper styling. The interior has been completely redesigned, with high-quality materials and lots of new technology -- including the option of a vast eight-inch touchscreen and a system that parks the car for you. Two diesel and two petrol engines are available, all of which are smooth and quiet on the road, along with six-speed manual and six-speed automatic gearboxes. Many will think it's design is a little tame - inside and out - but that's a small price to pay for the only car you'll ever need.
