In February 2014, Hot Rod Magazine invited the Big Red Camaro out to face off against Chevrolet's new 2014 Z-28 Camaro. Big Red has never been one to back down from a challenge and to pit the Generation 1 Camaro against the new Generation 5 was too good an opportunity to pass up. The Big Red team braved one of the worst ice storms on record and made the trip out to the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama to attend the challenge. With the freezing temperatures came poor track conditions, and the new Z/28 had a huge advantage with all its modern traction control systems - Big Red had her work cut out for her. Unfortunately the less than ideal conditions held Big Red back from reaching her full potential in what would be a classic duel on a truly great road course, but she still managed to give her descendant one hell of a run for its money. The car began as an all stock 1969 Chevrolet Camaro and became a very highly modified muscle machine revered and well-known for its stunning performances in "flat out" open road racing. The original car was destroyed in an accident in the La Carrera Road Race in 1988, as the stock chassis was unable to handle the stresses of cornering the heavy car under the conditions and massive power output. "Big Red" was then rebuilt by the late, great race car builder Bill Osborne with the original stock '69 body and a spaceframe tube chassis, as well as a 1,000 plus horse power engine built by Larry Mollicone. This is the car that went on to win accolades and trophies at both the La Carrera Classic and Silver State Classic Challenge throughout the late 80's, catching the world's attention, scoring features in numerous car magazines, and made a name for itself among muscle car and race enthusiasts. Big Red was retired in 1996 to a car museum, and revived for racing again in 2004. Big Red continues to live up to the title of "The Baddest '69 Camaro ever."

All that power is being funneled through a Centerforce clutch, to a Borg Warner T10 four-speed, and then back to a 12 bolt rear with 3.55 gears. This car has all the performance you need and then some. It's also a beautifully restored car, from the ultra slick black exterior with SS trim, to the completely restored houndstooth interior. It's also equipped with front disc brakes, Eagle Alloy wheels, and BF Goodrich ZR speed rated tires. This car goes, turns, and stops amazingly well. JCG Restorations 1968 Camaro -- /BIG MUSCLE
Tucked away in a small industrial park in Oxnard, CA sits JCG Restorations & Customs, a moderately sized shop that has built some of the best performing pro-touring cars that we've ever driven. Now generally we don't focus in on shops, however when the owners of three of our best test cars start dropping names, we tend to listen. Originally we descended on JCG to drive Blu Balz, a stunning 1968 Camaro owned by one Karl Dunn. However since Mother Nature decided to water the Earth that day, we put our original plans on hold and got shop owner Cris Gonzalez to give us the in's and out's of what it takes to make a stellar pro-touring car.

Installation of a Flowmaster Force II Cat-Back Exhaust (#817523) on a 2011 GMC Sierra. I made this video because I was researching installing one of these on my truck and I couldn't find anything for a GM Truck. I saw some Mustangs, some Camaros, some Ford trucks, etc. But nobody had documented what it would be like for a GM truck. So here you go. All in all, it was pretty easy and only took a couple hours. I can't promise how close they are, but the instructions and kit were for 2007-2012 GM Trucks. So this would most likely apply to them as well, with perhaps a few deviations. Also, sorry for the fact that it's all close ups, but when your truck is on ramps and your lying underneath it you can only zoom out so far. [15 Oct 13] One more thing as a note on warranties. Here is a snippet from the Flowmaster FAQ: "There are some modifications that have the potential to void a vehicle's factory warranty, but modifying the Exhaust system after the catalytic converter is not one of them. All Flowmaster Exhaust systems are designed vehicle specific and do not violate manufacturers factory warranty. If you're having problems regarding this issue, please contact www.sema.org for more information regarding consumer's rights on performance aftermarket parts."
