Pontiac 350 - 350 Horsepower For Less Than $500.00
A short video describing the modifications done to the 65,000 original mile
Pontiac 350 engine in my 1975 Formula. Using heads, cam, pushrods, rocker
arms and an intake that I had laying around, this Pontiac 350 developed 353
horsepower and 385
lbs/ft of Torque, for less than $500.00 invested.
Pontiacs for 1964
John DeLorean replaced Pete Estes as general manager, and he continued the
same emphasis on performance that Bunkie Knudsen and Estes had begun.
The big news for 1964 For 1964, the Tempest and LeMans' transaxle design
was dropped and the cars were redesigned under GM's new A body platform;
frame cars with a conventional front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. The
most important of these is the GTO, short for "Gran Turismo Omologato," the
Italian for "Grand Touring, Homologated" used by Ferrari as a badge to
announce a car's official qualification for racing. In spite of a GM
unwritten edict against engines larger than 330 ci in intermediate cars,
DeLorean (with support from Jim Wangers from Pontiac's ad agency), came up
with the idea to offer the GTO as a dealer option package that included a
389 ci engine rated at 325 or 348 horsepower (260 kW).

Car Warriors - S02E04 - Pontiac Firebird 1978
Car Warriors is a competition unlike any other. Every week, two of the
country's most talented and colorful local garages will have one crazy
challenge: Build an ENTIRE CAR from a piece of junk -- in just 48 hours.
It's the ultimate car building competition.
1969 PONTIAC FIREBIRD - A MOST UNUSUAL ENGINE.
At first glance this Firebird looks like it has a straight six engine but
then I saw that this was a most unusual and extraordinary engine. This
even baffled the judges of the car show where this Firebird was recorded.
The brainchild of Pontiac legend John DeLorean, he developed the overhead
cam six, ( OHC6). This engine was based on the Chevy 230 cid L-head 6,
now a 250 cid that had a 3.86 bore and a stroke of 3.250 with a 9.0:1
comprssion ratio. DeLorean wished this engine would be the first overhead
cam engine placed in conventional cars and was the most sophisticated
engine GM ever made. Alas, the expense and low voume production of this
engine resulted in competition against powerful V8 engines and was finally
deemed too much, too soon. Thanks very much for viewing this rare engine
and this stunning Firebird.
1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 Cold Start
My 1968 Pontiac Firebird had been parked up for a week in sub-zero
So, I thought it would be a good idea to crank it over and warm it through
a little. I'd recently had an MSD ignition system and new Edelbrock carb
installed, so was also interested to find out how easy it was to start
The Pontiac was started with no choke. I cranked it over initially just to
make sure everything was free, and to get the oil moving a little, then
popped the bonnet to check the hoses. After that, and with a few pumps of
the pedal, off it went!
The car is a bit of a project, but it's road legal. I'll be doing some more
videos on it soon, so stay tuned.
If you enjoyed the video, please take a second to give it a thumbs up, add
it to a favourites list, or share it. It's always appreciated.
Custom 1972 Pontiac Firebird - V8 sound!
Jamboolio records a fully restored 1972 Pontiac Firebird with an 350 cid
5.7L V8 engine and a stunning new paint job.
The monstrous hood scoops and huge air vents added to the all black
exterior makes it a very bad-ass looking muscle car beast! The Exhaust sound is pretty awesome too! Enjoy.

PONTIAC - stock Pontiac Super Duty 421v8/405hp vs stock Chevy 409v8/409hp on DYNO
WATCH THE VID TO SEE HOW CLOSE THEY Dyno TO THEIR FACTORY
405hp/409hp ratings. Growing up.....Pontiac/Oldsmobile old timers/EXPERTS
who taught me most of what I know, often told me Chevy rated their horsepower in a more
optimistic way than say Oldsmobile or Pontiac. I've even heard Pontiac
rated/tested their engines in a 100 degree room, compared to Chevy in a 60
degree room. These Dyno results seem to reflect
that some of what I heard was true. Both of these engines are great, but
the results do seem to show that Pontiac was not rating their horsepower worrying if it
would cause "songs to be written" about their engines .... like the great
song "She's real fine my 409"--(Chevy).

Rods w/Scat 9000 Series Crankshaft all balanced up here @ our facility.
We instaledl new Manley 2.11 stainless steel valves along with the 1.670 Exhaust to pick the heads up with a real
rolled radius valve job. Installed Comp Cams BeHive Killer valve springs
and light weight retainers to handle the .575" Pro Street Hyd Roller Custom
Grind from Comp Cams to round out the short block. Manley push rods, PRW
1.6 aluminum roller rockers operate the opening and closing of the valves.
The engine is a beast and your mom could drive it because of the idle
quality and throttle response
The actual HP numbers when I went back to look were 477Hp @ 4800 rpm and a
whopping 597lbs of torque @ 3200 rpm and the power band actually was the
smoothest and even I have ever seen. I quoted the 453 from the previous
pull. The bsfc were .390's with a AFR of 13:1. The average torque was
565lbs all the way threw the pull. With the stock Dual Inlet air cleaner
and the stock appearance of the engine, this is a very economical way to
just run away from most on the street with a set of sticky MT Drag Radials.
We now manufacture a 515cu 455 or 400" base block stroker engine with the
exact same combo for an automatic car with over 650lbs of torque and 550hp
for the Monster Pontiac Pro Street engine. Give us a ring if you want to
have your Pontiac Engine put back to monster torque and hp numbers like
Gary Thomas was the owner in the back ground and has owned this car since
he was 20 years old. Can't tell you how old he is now but its well over 60!
We did a complete restoration from ground up and shot the car with the
paint to make it look brand new. We are installing A/C as well as complete
chassis upgrades to handle this power.
