AMC 1980 AMX Spirit restoration
This is my 1980 AMC Spirit AMX. I finished restoring this car in July of
2002. This car has new paint,interior,transmission,3:73 rear and a built up
360 AMC engine producing close to 400 hp. I sold this car to finish my 86
Corvette. I miss it very much. This car had the Exhaust turned down towards the ground. It
sounded real bassy like rolling thunder. This car was super fast. I took it
to the 100th Rambler anniversary in Kenosha, WI in July 2002. With Group 19
AMC club. We also took it to Long Island, New York one summer, and I
cruised my old neighborhood. Its sad to say that I sold it to a young man
and the car is getting abused. I saw some chips and scratches on it. AMC
made awesome engines.
Wheel standing 1970 AMX - qualifying run #2
Second run. This run was actually better on the incremental times with a
1.38 60' time until I got past the 1000' mark. Apparently the carb float
came loose and fell into the bowl (Autolite carb). This is an NHRA SS/H AMX
and is a 390 AMC by MACH Development with a Jerico 4-speed using and
Advanced Clutch. Note where the 60' lights are.
1968 AMC AMX Burnout
My 68 AMX at a friends AMC car party. I took it easy on the tires because
they were new. The next year it was better and I will post it soon
Wheels standing 1970 AMX SS/H Qualifying #1
6800 RPM launch. 1.40 60' time. First of 4 runs. Making adjustments to the
chassis as car is leaving to the left. This run was 10.10 ET at 132.21 MPH.
Location is Speedworld Raceway, Surprise, Arizona USA.
PRO STREET AMC EAGLE SX4 * INSANE WHEELIE * HOLY SH*T WHEELSTANDER * 9.78@137MPH * "FREAKINEAGLE"
Awesome wheelstand at Richmond Dragway. '81 AMC Eagle SX-4. Stock bore 454
with tunnel ram with 2-4's. This weekend it ran 6.16 @ 112 in 1/8th and
9.78 @ 137 in 1/4!! All motor! No juice, blower,or turbo charger, just Big Block Chevy power. The
next run the FreakinEagle stood straight up on the back bumper and almost
flipped backwards. Our day was done. What a show. The Dragway told us not
to come back until we had whleeie Bars! Ha, Ha.! Most people think it is a
Pinto on steroids. The short time (60' time) is less than 1.39. Not too
shabby for a stock leaf spring with SSM slapper bars and a stock Nova
12-bolt rear with 4.10 gears! Hard to beat that "bullet proof" Genuine GM
LS-7 Big Block Power! Basically a stock GM LS-7 BBC Engine with cam and
2-4's. "NUFF SAID"! HOTROD. No, that is not a photo shopped picture. People
just do not care for AMC Cars. Go figure. I guess it is because it has an
awesome GM motor in it. Well how many AMC's do you see drive into the
Dragstrip and run a 9,78 @ 137
mph???????????????????????????????????????????? Well By God this one did
and it is still sitting in my driveway.
