Big Red Camaro Runs Texas Mile thanks to GoPro Camera
The Outlaw Big Red Camaro driven by RJ Gottlieb
under the direction of crew chief Dave Ward drove to Texas to run the
Standing Mile known as THE TEXAS MILE. Circumstances only allowed them a
couple runs and on the easy check out run they ran 204.79. No Power Adders,
just brute Detroit horspower. Pretty impressive if you see how early they
shut off. GoPro video got the action.

The car is a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro. Engine is a 302 cubic
inch V8 with a single 4 barrel carburetor and the transmission is a 4
The car is basically set up per the 1969 SCCA (Sports Car Club of America)
TransAm series specifications and has been upgraded to SVRA( Sports Car
Vintage Racing Organization ) Group 6 specifications.
The car is also a rare SCCA Brass Tag A-Sedan. Obtained at the 1972 Lime
Rock Trans Am race. It was also registered as an SVRA Historic Racecar in
The Vintage Motorsports Festival was held by two of the premier vintage
racing groups in the country, VRG and VSCCA, and featured over 220 cars on
track throughout the weekend.

1969 Penske Trans-Am Camaro
The 1969 Sunoco Camaro
championship winning car. Driven by Mark Donohue the entire 1969 Trans-Am
Season. It won six races and finished second in another two. The sister
car, driven by Ronnie Bucknum finished 3rd in the Championship, and was
later destroyed by an earthquake in Mexico.
