2010 Run to the Coast - 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am goes into corner too hot on road course

This was my 3rd hot lap on the Road Course. I was overdriving the car quite a bit as it was the last lap and because letting it slide to the last bit of runoff was a ton of fun. Here, I carried too much speed, especially going over the crown in the road that unsettles the car. A cone was killed.

2010 Run to the Coast - 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Autocross
Here my Trans Am runs the autocross at RTTC 2010. This felt like my quickest run, but as luck would have it, there was some error with the timing so the run did not count. Note that the car shifts out of first gear; the transmission decided it no longer wanted to use 1st gear past 2500 rpm that day, which greatly hindered acceleration.

My Trans Am makes a 8.835 second pass at Irwindale against some poor Honda Civic (it ran a 10.6.) The TA has its original Oldsmobile 403 with a TH350 automatic and GM 10 bolt rear differential with 2.73 gears.

This restored vehicle features a 300 horsepower Chevy 350 V8, 700r4 overdrive transmission, 3.42 rear gears, flowmaster Exhaust, and subframe connectors. Original black on black t-top vehicle with fresh paint and interior. The original Oldsmobile 403 only had 180 horsepower, but these cars can return to the muscle car era with only a few tweaks/mods.
