The 991 is the first 911 to use predominantly aluminum construction. This
means that even though the car is larger than the outgoing model, it is
still up to 50 kilograms (110 lb) lighter. The reduced weight and increased
power means that both the Carrera and Carrera S are appreciably faster than the outgoing models. The 0--60
mph time for the manual transmission cars are 4.6 seconds for the Carrera
and 4.3 seconds for the Carrera S. When equipped with PDK the 991 models
can accelerate from 0--60 mph in 4.4 seconds and 4.1 seconds for the
Carrera and Carrera S respectively. With the optional sports chrono
package, available in cars with the PDK transmission, the 991 Carrera can
accelerate from 0--60 mph in as little as 4.2 seconds and the Carrera
S can do the same in 3.9 seconds.
The biggest and main change in the interior is the center console, inspired
by the Carrera GT and adopted by the Panamera.
The 911 has many strengths, the new 911 Carrera 4 has a few more with
regards to traction, driving dynamics and safety. Make these strengths your
own - behind the wheel - whatever the weather. More information on
The Porsche 911 (pronounced as Nine Eleven or German: Neunelfer) is a
two-door Grand Tourer made by Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany. It has a
distinctive design, rear-engined and with independent rear suspension, an
evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. Since its introduction in
1963, it has undergone continuous development, though the basic concept
has remained little changed. The engine was air-cooled until the
introduction of the Type 996 in 1998.
Throughout its lifetime, the 911 has been modified by private teams and by
the factory itself for racing, rallying and other forms of automotive
competition. It is among the most successful competition cars ever. In the
mid 1970s, naturally aspirated 911 Carrera RSRs won major world
championship sports car races such as Targa Florio, Daytona, Sebring and
Nürburgring, even against prototypes. The 911-derived 935 turbo also won the coveted 24 Hours of Le Mans in
In the 1999 international poll for the award of Car of the Century, the 911
came fifth. It is one of two in the top five that had remained
continuously in production (the original Beetle remained in production
until 2003), and was until 1998 the most successful surviving
application of the air- (now water-) cooled opposed rear-engine layout
pioneered by its original ancestor, the Volkswagen Beetle. It is one of the
oldest sports coupe nameplates still in production.
In 2004, Sports Car International named the 911 number three on the list of
Top Sports Cars of the 1960s, the Carrera RS number seven on the list of
Top Sports Cars of the 1970s, and the 911 Carrera number seven on the list
of Top Sports Cars of the 1980s. In addition, the 911 was voted Number 2 on
Automobile Magazine's list of the "100 Coolest Cars". The 997 was nominated
for the World Car of the Year award for 2005.
2013 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet Official [HD] (Option Auto News)
911 Carrera S Cabriolet
3.8-litre boxer engine with 400 hp (294 kW); rear-wheel drive, seven-speed
manual transmission, optional seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe
(PDK); acceleration zero -- 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, with PDK in 4.5
seconds (4.3 seconds with Sport Chrono Package); top speed 301 km/h, with
PDK 299 km/h; fuel consumption (NEDC) 9.7 l/100 km, CO2 229 g/km; with PDK
8.9 l/100 km CO2 210 g/km.
The new Cabriolets are the 911s with emotional appeal. With the top down,
they convey a unique abundance of intense driving impressions between
outstanding performance and calm comfort. This is based on the light, stiff
body in conjunction with the long wheelbase. Reduced weight and a longer
wheelbase compared with the predecessor generation are complemented by the
wider front track and larger wheels. In terms of its performance, the new
911 Cabrio raises the bar not by an inch but by a yard. This is down to a
precisely synchronised package of new and enhanced systems.
Electro-mechanical power steering and, in the case of the Carrera S,
Porsche Torque Vectoring with differential lock are featured as standard --
in conjunction with PDK even regulated. If so desired, the new 911 Carrera
ups the ante in driving dynamics terms with options such as PDCC roll
With the open-top 911s as well, Porsche has managed to reverse the weight
spiral and make the new Cabrio models significantly lighter than their
predecessors, by up to 60 kilograms depending on equipment. As a result,
for the same engine output, the new 911 Carrera generation combines
enhanced performance with significantly lower fuel consumption -- in short
"Porsche Intelligent Performance".

2012 Porsche 911 (991) Carrera S Cabriolet PDK GREAT Sounds! 1080p HD!

So here it is, I made an announcement on my Facebook page for this beast!
The all new 2012 Porsche 991 Carrera S Cabriolet! The real revelation of
this car was at March 3, at the Geneva motorshow! But there wasn't any
video with the sound this clear. In this video you'll see the 991 doing
some ridiculous accelerations, flybys and downshifts! Also the revving is
pretty awesome with the switching between Sport mode on, and off. I hope
you like the video just as much as I enjoyed recording it!
What do you think about the 991? Share it, and comment below! Like the
video if you do! And if you like this video, be sure you take a look at my
channel! There's a lot more car action on there as well!

2013 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet Test Drive & Convertible Sports Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/porsche/911/2013/?id=32972 The 4th generation
Porsche 911 is lighter, faster,
and better looking than the previous model. The heritage of this car dates
way back to the early 1960's and over the years the 911 has been at the top
of the sports car mountain. This 2013 model still retains the same shape
but is much more sinister. There are 10 different trims that include: turbocharged versions, coupes, and
cabriolets (convertibles). The base price on the 2013 Porsche Carrera S
Cabriolet tested here is $108,000.
The engine on the 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera S is a 3.8 liter horizontally
opposed 6-cylinder that makes 400 horsepower and 325 lb-ft. of
torque. 0-60 MPH times are in the mid 4-second range. Fuel economy is 19
MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway. The transmission options are a
7-speed PDK automatic or the only 7-speed manual in the world. The manual
is not as quick as the PDK but is more fun and engaging.
With every convertible the challenge is to keep the same overall shape the
same as the coupe counterpart. Porsche has done a great job and the 2013
911 Carrera S Convertible has a few new features including an integrated
wind screen and a 3-panel magnesium roof that can open or close within 13
seconds and can be operated at speeds up to 30 MPH. Porsche employ a soft
top rather than a hard top for both weight savings and look. The company
has addressed the traditional problems associated with a soft top such as
sound and thermal insulation which have been a real problem in the past.
Now the top on the 2013 Porsche 911 Cabriolet is an extremely hi-tech piece
the remains stable at high speeds while doing a good job at keeping out
There are plenty of cars to choose from in the convertible sports car
category including the: Mercedes SL-Class, Audi R8 Spyder, Aton Martin
Vantage, or the Maserati Gran Turismo. But none of these competing cars are
as light nor do they have the 40 years of heritage that the 2013 Porsche
911 Carrera S Cabriolet has. This car is a true sports car and is the best
of both worlds.
