With the proper equipment, Chevrolet's Nova SS was an affordable bomb of a car, a formidable runner right off the showroom floor. The Nova grew from the Chevy II, Chevrolet's entry into the budget compact market. Engine choices expanded as the car grew in size until in 1968 it was redesigned on the Camaro platform, enabling the use of the 396, and renamed the Nova. Chevy thus had another big-block arrow in its quiver. Lighter than almost anything else from GM, the Nova SS396 was incredibly quick, especially the 375 horsepower L78 version.
Meanwhile, the visual side of the SS package remained as low key as ever, as demonstrated by this good-looking 1970 SS396. Cortez Silver with a Black interior, the car has been thoroughly restored and detailed to the highest level of finish. The numbers-matching drivetrain comprises the L78 big-block (more accurately a 402) and turbo-Hydramatic 400 transmission turning a 12-bolt Positraction differential. Power brakes with front discs keep things under control.
Interior options include bucket seats, console, AM radio and a soft-rim Sport steering wheel. The few outward clues to the car's performance tell the story: SS badges, black-accented grille and tail and simulated hood air intakes, not to mention those "396" callouts. Magnum-style wheels and Firestone Wide Ovals add a bit more show to this handsome big-block Nova.

Lot S128 1971 Mercury Cougar 429 Cobra Jet 4-speed
Mercury was a force in mid-sixties factory FX racing with its crazy 427
Comets, but by the late sixties had become identified more with luxury than
performance. One of the exceptions to this trend was the Cougar, which
earned a serious performance reputation in both drag and road racing. A
genuine all-matching-numbers concours-quality example of Mercury's ponycar
is offered here in the form of this singularly rare 1971 Cougar 429 Cobra
Jet 4-speed. Only 18 1971 Cougars were equipped with this top-of-the-line
power combination; this car is the only one of that group originally
finished in Black.
Fresh from a private Cobra Jet collection, the car's no-expense-spared
restoration is evident in every detail from its as-new exterior finish and
brightwork to the impeccable Medium Green interior that includes the
unmistakable Hurst T-handle shifter. This is the sort of presentation that
comes from pride of both ownership and craftsmanship.
A factory A/C car with power steering and brakes, this rare and remarkable
car comes with complete documentation that includes a Marti Report.

I thought you'd like a look at this very clean 1969 Chevy Nova SS, so we
decided to take it for a spin. This car is powered by a performance built
396 Big-block, topped with Edelbrock aluminum heads, Performer RPM intake,
and a 4 BBL Carb. All that power is being sent through a four-speed manual
trans and believe me, this thing will really fly. The Cortez silver paint
is very slick, the interior looks like new, and it's riding on a set of
rally wheels, with BF Goodrich tires. This car is extremely well built and
it's ready to go. I hope you find it interesting, thanks for taking a

This striking '67 Chevelle pro-tourer, with its 468 cubic inch V8, tweaked
air suspension and completely custom interior, is the perfect piece for the
muscle car fan who wants the best of absolutely everything!
The beneficiary of a professional frame-off restoration that was completed
in June of 2012, this slick Chevy hardtop features a seamless custom
appearance that's highlighted by an immaculate coat of mirror-like paint.
Take one look down the sides of this Chevelle's rock-solid body and it
becomes obvious that great care was taken to ensure every panel is aligned
to better-than-factory fit. Step closer to the car's hypnotic finish and
check out its straight and ripple-free surfaces which are a product of both
rust-free sheetmetal and high quality prep work. Grab the car's
well-adjusted hood and feel how smoothly it closes to provide an excellent
fit which is set off by a precise gaps and a glossy clearcoat shell. Now,
step back and watch it all add up to one very well-done pro-tourer which is
built to exacting specifications and features a great combination of
skilled workmanship and first-rate detailing.
The Chevrolet division has always represented performance to a virtual army
of car guys. But unlike their luxuriously smooth Impala brethren, Chevelles
manifests that performance as raw attitude and brute force. Lift the hood
of this sinister pro-tourer and you'll find a 468 cubic inch big block V8
which makes killer power and produces the kind of throaty growls that
elicit an immediate 'deer in the headlights' look.
The more things change, the more they stay the same as this 21st century
A-Body kicks into go-mode thanks to a rugged M22 Rock Crusher. As you can
probably tell from our pictures, that proven pebble pounder is suspended by
a fully rebuilt chassis that's fitted with fresh air bags, modern power
steering, a traditional 12 bolt rear end and giant drilled and slotted
rotors that are seized by bright red calipers. And putting the power to the
pavement is a slick set of Boss Motorsports 338s which spin 235/40ZR18
front and 275/35ZR20 rear Nexen N7000 radials around chrome lug nuts and
Inside this stunning Chevelle you'll find a completely custom interior
that's tight, technological and in excellent condition. The firm seats,
modern units that have been swiped from a donor car and recovered in faux
ostrich skin, feel comfortable enough to spend a sunny afternoon in. At the
front of those seats, a custom dash hangs a sweet set of Auto Meter
American Muscle gauges above a control panel for the car's Nostalgic Air
Parts air conditioning and a bright screen for the car's Power Acoustik
CD/DVD/Navigation system. At the base of that dash, a custom black console
props a leather-booted Hurst shifter in front of four power window switches
and a small leather armrest. In front of the driver a chrome tilt steering
column, which is complete with a full set of billet stalks, prominently
displays a custom chrome steering wheel. And behind the passengers, a
fully-finished trunk features premium carpet, custom paneling and two large
In summary, this '67 Chevelle represents creative engineering at its very
finest, combining stunning design and execution with no-excuses, no-limits
performance. Call, click or visit http://RKMotorsCharlotte.com for more
