Starting in September 2011, the C-Class coupe will be made available in C250, C350, and C63 AMG editions. The C 63 AMG is reportedly the first AMG-Mercedes designed from the ground up for performance, as compared to previous AMG cars which essentially featured "bolt on" performance modifications. The C 63 has a revised front end architecture that is taken from the CLK 63 AMG Black Series.[34] The 7G-Tronic has AMG SpeedShift with three shift modes -- Comfort, Sport and Manual -- with the last one running with the converter locked allowing the driver to hold the engine at the rev limit. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a compact executive car produced by the Mercedes-Benz division of Daimler AG. The Classic and Elegance lines retain the traditional Mercedes-Benz radiator grille usually on sedan models, with a three-point star bonnet emblem, and is designed to appeal to regular luxury buyers. The Avantgarde and AMG have a grille similar to that on Mercedes' sport coupe models, with three horizontal bars and a large centre-mounted star, plus there is additional equipment such as a three-spoke steering wheel, AMG bodykit, lower sport suspension, upgraded brake piston calipers, and larger alloy wheels, and these configurations are designed to position the C-Class as a sports sedan. The design of Type R models was originally focused on race conditions, with an emphasis on minimizing weight, and maximizing performance potential (e.g. engine tuning, suspension set-up). Thus, Type R models were first conceived for racetracks. However, due to Honda's increased focus on their highly regarded VTEC engines, the Type R was eventually designed for a much wider market. Type R vehicles traditionally have a red Honda badge and championship white paint as an option, as a tribute to their first winning F1 car. Honda's racing and F1 cars often feature a red Honda badge. Honda produced a very limited number of NSX Type R in 1992 for Japan. The Civic SiR featured the same 160ps B16A DOHC VTEC engine as introduced in Honda's popular Integra XSi hatchback a year earlier. With the top of the line Civic model at the time (the famous Civic GTi) only available on the New Zealand market the Civic SiR was the best available to most markets and found huge popularity in Japan and around the world. Fitted with an optional LSD, power windows, A/C and power steering, they proved to be sporty. Unfortunately, the Civic SiR never found the same success in racing as the Integra due to the soft chassis of the EF9 model. The latter EG6 SiR-II had all the same luxuries as the EF9 model, with a 10 hp (7 kW) increase for the B16A engine and a marginally stiffer chassis, this time in a larger heavier body shell. The 1998 EK9 Civic was the first to be given the Type R badge. Based on the EK4 SiR chassis it featured a Type R prepared B16B engine producing 185 PS (182 hp), stiffer chassis, upgraded sway bars and strut bars, Recaro alcantara seats, 15-inch alloy wheels and a large boot spoiler. Since then, most generations have offered a Type R variant. In a world where modern professional racing is restricted by regulations, the X1 is a machine born from a fantastic "what if" dream of Gran Turismo: "What would the fastest racing car on Earth, free of any and all regulations, look like?" And the only way to experience it is in Gran Turismo 5. Initially the X1 Prototype was a single-seater canopied prototype wing car with covered front wheels. Powered by a 1500ps direct-injection V6 Twin turbo, on paper the performance would have been spectacular, producing a top speed of 400km/h (248.6mp/h) and a maximum lateral acceleration of 6G. But once Red Bull Racing was brought on board to be a partner, the X1 really took off. Adrian Newey, master aerodynamic engineer and Red Bull Racing's chief technical officer, suggested "Fan Car" technology, a long-held dream of his, be added to the design of the X1 Prototype. A "fan car" is a vehicle having a fan mechanism which forces the air out from underneath the car to reduce air pressure under the car's floor. The resulting suction draws the car to the ground surface and creates a massive amount of downforce. And because it can create downforce regardless of the vehicle's current speed, it dramatically raises it's cornering speed capability even in low speed corners. Thanks to the insight of Mr. Newey, the X1 Prototype design was transformed. A large fan was added to the rear end of the body to implement the Fan Car technology. Plus, Newey provided additional input into the the design of the front and rear wings and rear diffuser, dramatically refining the vehicle's aerodynamics. As a result, the virtual X1 Prototype was able to achieve an astonishing level of performance. Its new top speed was 450km/h (279.6mp/h), with a maximum lateral acceleration reaching up to 8.75G, pushing the vehicle to the very limits of what a normal human body can withstand.
