Chapter 4: turboback Exhaust on Audi A4 1.8t Hey Audi lovers, just installed my 3" turbo back Exhaust from FLP in Brandywine on my car... they don't do test pipes, so had to drive the car back home to install the 3" test pipe from ECS.. The rear flange on test pipe don't work with custom Exhaust set ups so had the guy to weld custom flange on it. 3" test pipe, to 3" custom down pipe with flex, to 3" straight pipe, to 2.25" split, to Magnaflow straight through, to 4" tip

While it's true the Audi A4 is aging and nearing the end of its lifespan, it remains a compelling automobile. The clean and conservative design has withstood the test of time and the interior is filled with high quality details. Under the hood lives a fuel efficient and powerful turbocharged engine while the Quattro AWD system makes the car handle on rails. There is very little to complain about when it comes to the 2014 Audi A4. The model tested here is the Premium Plus trim which starts at $37,300; that is until you add on the Navigation Package, Sport Package, and Black Optic Package. Now the price swells to over $43k. So how does this compact sedan stack up against the competition? There is no denying the Audi A4 looks great. The Black Optic Package adds a set of 19-inch rims finished with a titanium look which are fantastic. The Black Optics Package also includes a blacked-out grille. The A4 only has one engine option and that is a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder that makes 220 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. The car feels strong thanks to the high torque figures. The A4 also manages some excellent fuel economy numbers for an AWD car at 20 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. One of the best things about driving the Audi A4 is the engine. By the numbers the powerplant does not seem that exciting. But this turbocharged engine has been around for many years and Volkswagen has clearly refined it so. Costing almost £60,000, the replacement for the legendary old BMW M3, the M4 has moved away from the V8 power plant in the old car, and is now powered by a 425bhp twin-turbocharged straight-six engine. Meanwhile, the similarly prices Audi RS5 is propelled by a 4.0-litre V8, which produces 430bhp. It's also mated to the Audi quattro four-wheel drive system. Like the BMW, it also features a dual-clutch gearbox, the Audi S tronic system. There's no denying the Audi lacks the fun factor of the BMW - the quattro four-wheel-drive system prevents the lurid powerslides than you can really go for in the M4. You can also feel the weight of the engine over the front axle in the RS5, but it certainly doesn't feel slow at all. Overall then, the RS5 feels very punchy, and the gearshift is also really nice - the same can be said for its V8 soundtrack. It's not a track machine though, and the car from Neckarsulm is more of a very stable and very rapid cruiser. Meanwhile, the BMW M4 feels very raw and very serious, especially when all the settings are put at their sportiest via the M1 switch on the steering wheel. These also turn the traction control and stability control off. With no electronic aids, the M4 is always trying to get its tail out. However, the body control is amazing, but there is a feeling that it's all a bit artificial. The same can be said for the engine note, which has been enhanced. The M4 is a proper M car though, and something BMW can be truly proud of. It set a lap time of 1m09.9s, compared to the 1m12.2s set by the Audi - that's 2.3s quicker.

► Audi's automatic driving for parking
Audi's automatic parking systems operate by means of either ultrasound or cameras, which display images via the onboard monitor. One particularly convenient solution is park assist. When backing into a parking space, it performs all the necessary steering movements; it can handle both parallel parking and parking perpendicular to the street. The system finds a parking space with ultrasound sensors that scan the roadside in two dimensions while driving at moderate speed. The system notifies the driver via a message in the display once the sensors have found a space which is large enough. If the driver wishes to park in the space, he or she shifts into reverse and the park assist system takes over the steering. The driver must accelerate, shift gears, and brake. When parallel parking, the detected space is large enough if it is about 80 centimeters (2.62 ft) longer than the vehicle itself. Park assist can perform multi-point parking maneuvers and also offers support in leaving parallel parking spaces. Another technology from Audi is the parking system plus with surround view cameras. Four small cameras -- in the single-frame grille, at the rear and in the side mirror housings -- record the vehicle's immediate surroundings. The driver can call up a variety of views on the large onboard monitor, including a top-down virtual view. On corners or junctions with an obstructed view, the system can analyze cross-traffic otherwise invisible to the driver in front of or behind the vehicle. ► http://www.facebook.com/youcarpress
