2011 SEMA Feature Profile: Chevrolet Sonic Boom Concept
The Sonic has been represented in serious numbers at SEMA 2011. Chevy spent a lot of time working with partners to build custom cars, but also designed a few serious gems of their own. One thing Chevy knew they needed was a Sonic that would really go "boom!" and hence the Sonic Boom Concept was born. The Sonic Boom features a 4,000 watt audio system by Kicker® Performance Audio, custom 19" wheels, Z-Spec Concept Ground Effects, Grille and Spoiler, along with an Anodized Flat Red paint job. A custom "Panic Button" on the front dash activates the Sonic Boom's jet engine- inspired audio system, opens the trunk and back doors while droppin' the hardcore bass on any innocent bystanders. I caught up with Rob Cameron of the Chevrolet Design Team on Monday night and had him tell us a little about the car. Check the video out (you know the drill) after the jump!

2012 Chevy Sonic LTZ
General Motors yanked back the sheets on its newest sub-compact from Chevrolet; the 2012 Sonic. The five-door hatch and four-door sedan models will be available with either a standard 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine or an optional turbo'd 1.4-liter mill that can be ordered up with either a five-speed manual trans or a six-speed slushbox. At the time of the unveiling, GM was mum on the Sonic's estimated miles per gallon rating but The General is now ready to talk a little mpg. The automaker is saying that the 2012 subcompact Sonic will achieve up to 40 mpg highway when it hits the market this fall. Though none of the numbers have been finalized by the EPA, GM's projected mileage figures seem highly likely considering that the Sonic packs the same powertrains as the heftier Chevrolet Cruze. The Cruze, which is rated at 24/36 mpg city/highway, obviously outweighs the Sonic and, therefore, we expect it to be the less fuel efficient vehicle of the two. For the sake of comparison, the outgoing Aveo, equipped with a manual trans, achieved an EPA rating of 25/35 mpg city/highway. The Sonic's 40-mpg rating would place it on par with the Ford Fiesta and ahead of both the Honda Fit and the Toyota Yaris

2012 Chevrolet Sonic Review and 0-60 MPH Drive
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) For 2012 Chevrolet has completely redesigned and even renamed the Chevy Aveo. The small Chevrolet economy car is now the brand new Chevy Sonic. The old Aveo was really a rebadged Korean that is now a bad memory in the minds of many car reviewers. So of course the obvious question is has General Motors come out of the corner swinging with a brand new Chevrolet Sonic that can take on the likes of the very popular Honda Fit, Ford Fiesta, and of course the very similar KIA Rio. Check out this 0 to 60 MPH review of the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic to find out.
