First Drive: BMW i8 - /CHRIS HARRIS ON CARS
Chris Harris takes a 24 hour trip to Los Angeles to drive the new BMW i8. He hated the flight, but the i8 left a positive impression on the team. Capable of 23 miles all electric before the 3-cylinder turbocharged motor kicks in to recharge the batteries. This is one of the closest production cars we've ever seen that looks almost identical to the concept car it's based on.

BMW i8 Full Review - The all new
The engine and electric motor combine for 362 horsepower, 420 pound-feet of torque and all-wheel-drive performance, all integrated into a chassis that is 10 pounds lighter and 1.5 inches longer than the 3 Series. The i8 also delivers stellar handling thanks to 50/50 weight distribution and a low, centrally mounted battery pack, although standard 20-inch wheels seem like a suspect choice for maximizing corner-to-corner performance. BMW says the i8 can also travel 22 miles and reach a top speed of 75 mph on electrons alone. Uncorked with the gasoline engine in the lead, it will reach a top speed of 155 mph. Sounds like a pretty good future to us. Lightweight construction helps bring lofty performance within reach, notably an aluminum chassis, chemically hardened glass (similar to that used in smartphones) and extensive use of carbon-fiber-reinforced panels within the 2+2 passenger cabin. Those plus-2 rear seats are small, however, smaller than even a Porsche 911's, and are best considered auxiliary luggage space. Even settling into the front seats requires some practice given its unique scissor-lift-style doors. We drove a recent i8 prototype and found the i8's easy thrust in all-electric mode a close match for the Tesla Model S. In its Sport mode (there are also Comfort and Eco Pro settings), the i8 further awakens, feeling light, agile and averse to body roll. The hybrid never quite overwhelms with acceleration, but it also never feels winded, the electric motor's torque nicely covering for the small turbo as the latter winds up to deliver its power contribution. Whatever the i8 lacks in competitive performance, it won't lack for style. Its low-slung profile is punctuated by standard U-shaped LED headlights. You can even order the i8 with laser headlights where regulations allow (sorry, U.S. shoppers). Inside, a multitiered and layered cockpit design uses recycled materials and naturally treated leather for upholstery and panel surfaces Like the smaller i3 electric car, the i8 will offer three trim levels -- Mega, Giga and Tera -- all with varying degrees of sport and luxury appointments. The 2014 BMW i8 arrives in the spring and starts around $136,000. That's well above its most obvious target, the Tesla Model S, and that kind of money also buys a lot of Porsche 911. Performance aficionados won't likely be swayed and may even look across the BMW lineup to the "M" cars. But for the hybrid buyer seeking power, performance and efficiency through a lower profile, the 2014 BMW i8 presents a unique choice. The $4.5 Million Lamborghini Veneno driving in California
Check me out on Facebook: www.facebook.com/StradmanPhotography See the other Lamborghini Veneno I've filmed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu-X4vxhppw&list=UU21Kozr_K0yDM-VjoihG9Aw This $4.5 million dollar Lamborghini Veneno was shown at the Quail Motorsports gathering in Monterey, California. Lamborghini is producing just 4 Venenos; This one will be at the Lamborghini factory in Sant'agata Bolognese, Italy. Two of the remaining three will end up in the United States, one in Miami, Florida and one in Long Island, New York. The third one will end up in the Middle East. The two American bound Lamborghini Venenos have been delivered. The Veneno in Long Island, owned by Antoine Dominic (owner of Lamborghini Long Island) is expected to be displayed at the showroom of Lamborghini Long Island. Dominic is a long time Ferrari owner who had an F40, F50, Enzo and an MC12 prior to switching to Lamborghini. The Miami bound Veneno, owned by Kris Singh, is expected to be driven somewhat regularly. Mr. Singh is managing director of Tequesta Investments. Each of the three customer delivered Venenos is finished in a different colored accent, red, white and green. The Veneno in this video is red. This is noticeable on the front splitter and rear diffuser. It has been announced that Lamborghini will also introduce a roadster version of the Veneno. Lamborghini will produce 9 Lamborghini Veneno Roadsters. The Lamborghini Veneno was first unveiled at the Genevea Auto Show in April 2013. The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster was first photographed at a special private viewing in Beverly Hills, California in November 2013. It's official debut was on an Italian air craft carrier in Abu Dhabi. It also was shown at CES 2014, Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada in conjunction with Monster Audio, who fitted a custom $100,000 sound system in the Veneno Roadster. The Lamborghini Veneno is a development of the Lamborghini Aventadors 6.5L V12 producing 740 HP. Veneno means venom in Spanish. Lamborghini currently produced the Aventador, the Veneno and is set to begin production of the Gallardo replacement, the Lamborghini Huracan. The Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 is set to be officially unveiled at the Geneva International Auto Show on March 4, 2014. The Lamborghini Veneno follows in the footsteps of other extremely limited production Lamborghinis. Prior to the Veneno, Lamborghini built 20 race oriented Lamborghini Sesto Elementos, based off the Gallardo. Prior to the Sesto Elemento, Lamborghini produced the Lamborghini Reventon, of which only 20 coupes and 15 roadsters. The Reventon was sold for $2 million USD. The Lamborghini Veneno is featured in Forza Motorsport 5 and Need for Speed.

2011 Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow Concept
For the 2011 Los Angeles Design Challenge, which was seeking to find the most spectacular new film car for Hollywood, the designers from the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studios in Sindelfingen (Germany) and Carlsbad (USA), have joined the ranks of the screen-writers. The designers at the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studio in Carlsbad, California have created a Hollywood-style homage for Mercedes-Benz to 125 years of innovation in automotive technology and design. The leading roles are played by two high-tech characters which have been instrumental in reconciling safety and stylish design in automobiles: the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow cult racing car and crash test dummies. The film "Silver Lightning" is set in the near future, in an age of artificial intelligence. Two crash test dummies by the names of Hans05 and Franz02 take on evil ruler Dr. Crash-Barrier to save their beloved Mercedes Silver Arrow. They engage in an action-packed, nerve-jangling duel with the ruthless battering ram before finally outfoxing him. The Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow Concept is a low-lying sculpture on wheels. A feat of technical innovation is the diagonal, hubless roller which allows steering in all directions. The futuristic Silver Arrow's proportions are reminiscent of the legendary sports car from the late 1930s and the Uhlenhaut SLR from the 1950s.
