OFFICIAL PRESENTATION NEW FORD KA 2014 - DEVELOPED IN BRAZIL
The Ford Ka (pronounce it like a Bostonian saying "car") is the Blue Oval's sub-Fiesta offering in a number of markets that aren't North America. It's been a staple in Europe since it launched in 1996 and in South America since 1997, where it's enjoyed quite a bit of popularity as an affordable, efficient city car. The European and South American models grew apart over the years, until Europe ended up with a Fiesta-inspired car and Brazil retained a more evolved version of the original Ka's styling. With this Ka Concept, which is really a concept in name only, Ford is previewing a Ka not just for the European market, but as the brand's new, global small car. With city car sales expected to grow dramatically in coming years and the ever increasing price of fuel, Ford's move to get a new, competitive car into the market on a global level isn't surprising. Wearing Ford's new, familial grille, the Ka Concept features the same crisp, sculpted sheetmetal that's adorned the Fusion and Fiesta. Developed in-house by Ford Brazil, a production version could launch by 2014, according to Ford's press release. It's unclear what engines will sit under this car's hood, although we'd bet the 1.0-liter, EcoBoost three-cylinder from the Fiesta will be available at some point. While there's no specific mention of where the Ka will be sold, we'd have to imagine that, despite history, Ford is at least considering sales in the US market. The question is, would Americans buy a car that slots in below Ford's already tiny Fiesta? Let us know in Comments. Mas acho interessante, a Ford nunca teve uma pickup de porte pequeno que conseguisse concorrer colm as demais, que tal fazer uma de peso, e não com a frente do Fiesta nacional e sim com algum Fiesta gringo, pra dar exclusividade mesmo. REVELADO NOVO FORD KA 2014 - BRASIL
A Ford bem que tentou esconder, mas o novo Ka apareceu ao mundo antes do previsto.O futuro modelo de entrada da marca no Brasil apareceu em um vídeo vazado e teve suas linhas reveladas antes de sua apresentação oficial,marcada para a manhã desta quarta-feira (13), na fábrica da montadora em Camaçari (BA). Desenvolvido pela montadora no país, o compacto é mais um produto global revelado pela primeira vez no Brasil, seguindo o mesmo caminho trilhado pelo EcoSport. Assim como o utilitário esportivo, o Ka também irá ganhar mercados emergentes ao redor do mundo, como Índia e China, mas também será oferecido no mercado europeu. O primeiro país a recebê-lo, porém, será o Brasil, ainda no primeiro semestre de 2014. Por aqui, o popular terá como opções um motor 1.0 e possivelmente 1.5, o mesmo utilizado no New Fiesta de entrada. A expectativa é de que o hatch, agora com quatro portas, custe cerca de R$ 30 mil e ocupe de uma só vez os mercados do Ka atual e do já antigo Fiesta Rocam. Visualmente, o modelo não traz grandes inovações, e repete o que vem sendo apresentado pelos demais modelos da marca, a começar pela grade trapezoidal, característica de Fiesta e o EcoSport. A traseira tem um grande vinco na tampa do porta-malas, enquanto as lanternas lembram as peças utilizadas pelo BMW Série 1. O interior do compacto deverá seguir um mistério, já que não deverá ser revelado neste primeiro momento. O novo Ka marca o início de uma nova era entre os compactos de entrada no Brasil. A Ford é a primeira a revelar o produto ao mercado, mas não será a primeira a lançar. Antes dela, em janeiro, a Volkswagen lançará no Brasil o compacto up!, substituto da quarta geração do Gol e futuro modelo mais barato da marca alemã no país. Até o fim de 2014 será a vez da Fiat revelar um compacto que irá substituir o velho Mille. Há chances do modelo ser produzido na nova fábrica da montadora, em Goiana (PE). A Chevrolet do Brasil, por sua vez, briga com outros países para ter a produção do futuro compacto da marca, que só será lançado em meados de 2017. Este terá a missão de substituir o Celta como modelo mais barato da GM.
