Remember the Sleeper Wagon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6wXw8t9oeU ? It was a Aussie Valiant wagon (A-body Mopar like the Dodge Dart) that I bought for $250 and fitted a borrowed 440 big block to it.
Year's later I repainted the car Hemi Orange and fitted a turbocharged 245 hemi six to it and even though it made only 40hp less than the big block it was nowhere near as much fun. Here's the Dyno tuning session from about four years ago. These days the wagon just runs a naturally aspirated 245 hemi six, but I'm thinking of doing some more to it soon.
Wagon Westoration - Part 1
With Chryslers on the Murray - Australia's Biggest Mopar Show - just around
the corner I thought I'd get the old wagon out of the shed and get it ready
for rego. Should be a bit of fun and hopefully it'll be a nice cruiser for
my wife and kids to enjoy.
WTOFIT - Crazy Rotary Powered Van Burnout
We popped in to the Good Fryday Burnout at Sydney Dragway to check out the
action and found this totally insane little rotary powered Suzuki van
ripping a few skids. Check out that glowing Exhaust. We've seen a few hot systems in our
time but never one that glowed so brightly.
Wagon Westoration - Part 2
The second part of our quick and easy Valiant Wagon makeover. I pull the
old head off and fit a better head and carby set-up.
Background music is Neolith by Kevin MacLeod from Incompetech.com
TUF253 Torana Smokes It Up
Yep, it's powered by a 253 with a Supercharger from a UD truck for a bit of fun.
Shannon loves a bit of burnout action and he's a regular viewer/commentor
here on Scotty's Garage so be nice. :)
Twin Turbo LS1-Powered HK Monaro on Dyno
Rodney Ritchie used to run a serious procharger blow-through set-up on his
HG Monaro but he's ripped that out and fitted a 406ci LS1 with twin T04Z turbos. It doesn't run alot of Boost but it sure makes enough power. It won
the Dyno at Winton's
Performance Car Mania with 731rwhp. Rodney now plans to finish things off
with an Intercooler and pump
up the Boost for even more power,
and possibly have a crack at Modified Street Blown in the APSA series.
BLOKY - NASCAR-Powered Valiant Burnout
Check out Daniel Blok's VG Valiant. He's found himself a 358ci Dodge NASCAR
engine complete with P7 heads and a dry sump set-up. It makes around 800hp
at the crank and sounds fantastic when he gets it up over that 8000rpm
mark. Mopar porn at it's finest.
Jet Powered Van Fires Things Up
Crank up the volume for this one. This jet powered van not only puts on a
good fire show but it also hauls arse down the track at Heathcote.
Unfortunately there was no time recorded but it looks pretty damn fast.
Supercharged 426 Hemi SRT-8 Dyno
Daniel Buchanan's 300C SRT-8 is a beast. It makes so much power that they
had to ditch the factoy auto and fit a turbo 400 to the car. The engine is a 6.1-litre
Hemi stroked out to 7-litre or 426 cubes in the old money. Which meaks it a
426 Hemi (okay so it's not a real 66-71 style 426 Hemi, but it sounds cool
anyway). On top sits a 3.4-litre whipple Supercharger from Yella Terra and all the work was
done by horsepower
Factory in Melbourne. For a street car running pump 98-octane fuel it
certainly makes some power.
Wagon Westoration - Part 3
With the cast iron Exhaust manifold
too warped to use I had to go back to the custom extractors, but the Exhaust system hit against the floor in a
couple spots. We take the wagon down to Totally Exhausted in Wodonga and get the guys to tweak
the Exhaust. It not only looks good
but sounds awesome too.
Jake Edwards Torana - Summernats 21
On the Dyno at
Summernats 21. Jakes Edwards is probably Australia's foremost authority on
blow through carby set-ups. Here's his own personal car running over 1000hp
at the tyres with a single carb and no Intercooler although it does run on
mehtanol. The engine is a 393cube Holden V8 and it runs a single Holset turbo.
BEST. POWERSKID. EVER.
I've seen some crazy powerskid action in my time but this Torana takes the
cake. With a big hit of Nitrous and a
heavy right foot this guy smokes the full length of the track in and aesome
display of skill and power.
If you've got a better powerskid then send me a video response.
Cameron Tilley incar
An incar view of Cameron Tilley going down the dragstrip. Cameron owns the
fastest Slant six powered sedan in Australia. It frequently runs in the mid
11's at up to 125mph in full street trim using a turbocharged/intercooled/EFI 225 slant six and
push-button auto. Note the lack of shifter on the floor and the fact that
Cameron has to do most of the driving using his left hand while shifting
with his right. It's a cool car, and bloody fast.
DOG265 Centura on the dyno
This was my old Centura on the Dyno at SAS back before I turboed it. I'll have to dig up some turbo footage, I've got some laying around
The engine was a 265 Hemi with a 600 holley, custom extractors and a single
3in Exhaust. The engine itself was
fairly standard but it still sounded awesome and was alot of fun to drive.
The Centura was a factory KC GLX 4-speed and I sold it on Ebay about twelve
Back before I bought it, this car won the six cylinder naturally aspirated
class at horsepower Heroes with a
highly modified engine.
