Jeep Rubicon and Toyota FJ Cruiser Off-Road in Hawaii
We witnessed first hand the capabilities of both vehicles on the trails. I'm personally a Toyota guy, having owned several Toyota 4x4s, an FJ and now a Tacoma. They aren't evenly matched because the Jeeps articulation and flexibility with the solid front axle, shorter wheel base and being lighter weight. Driver experience, error and patience were also contributing factors in how each vehicle performed.
We didn't create this video to make one seam better than the other. Ohana Trails is a Jeep Club here that we were filming and by chance, a group of FJ Cruiser owners were convoying with them. Unfortunately, we had more video of the Jeeps over the FJ's.
All in all it was an epic day up in the mountains at Peacock Flats on Oahu looking over the North Pacific.

The New 2011 VW Touareg Desert Driving

Toyota Landcruiser Prado 4WD Test Drive
Toyota introduced its new Prado Landcruiser mid-size 4WD as a "best of both worlds" solution for both the highway and the rough stuff. Gizmag had a chance to test the vehicle on all types of terrain - including, open roads, tight forest trails and a formidable purpose built 4x4 track - and it didn't fail to impress. Dubai Metro - Ibn Batutta to Jebel Ali + Additional Scenes [720p]
Finally, since March 11, the Jebel Ali station has opened. There has been tons of feedback from several workers that work or live in Jebel Ali, since they now have the possibility to easily travel with the metro to the city center, instead of always having to take the bus or a taxi. Where I read the news, I thought all 3 still closed stations, Energy, Jebel Ali Industrial, and Jebel Ali, would open, though only during the drive I noticed that only the Jebel Ali station opened. To that, it opened without southern access. And adding to that, only one platform is accessable, and is used for both train termination and trip resume to Rashidiya, since Jebel Ali is the last stop on the red line. So what happens, is the passengers can normally exit and enter the train at the same platform, which is usually the termination platform. Then the train changes tracks with the passengers and starts with full speed in direction Rashidiya. Don't ask me why the RTA has done this that way.
In the first scene the train attendant, there is one in each train, turned off the station announcements until shortly before the Jebel Ali station. Reason for that is because the Energy, and Jebel Ali Industrial stations would still be announced, even though they are not opened. This could cause a bit of confusion. You can here what it sounds like when the announcements are kept on in the last scene, where I was in a different train. Overall, it was an interesting trip.

Green line is said to be opened in September, according to a station attendant at Jebel Ali.

WrongWayRound2010 Oman Hatta Wadi Riding
Me and Jimmy riding in the Hatta Mountains and Wadis in Oman. Notice the black cloud and spots of rain -- not normal for this time of year. We heard a typhoon was on the way and flash floods were on the cards. The Scotsman was adamant that warnings do not apply to bikers. The guide book said that most deaths were due to idiots not heeding the warnings. As you're watching this video, the Jock was right for once -- suppose every dog has its day. A crackin' ride out and a nice change from the dunes. Well worth a try, but don't go out with your nice new tyres, as bits will generally fall off. Check back later for further instalments (including James falling on his arse, which will obviously get the slo-mo treatment...) Might even lay a rock track down over the next one.
