The Beast Mklla
The Beast Mklla, 5.0l V8, tricked suspension.
To all you idiots commenting about how your bog-standard Lada Niva 1200 can
do better than this -- please note: it was Xmas day afternoon, I just got a
new iPhone I wanted to try out, we'd spent the morning washing and
polishing the Landy, and then we killed an hour doing a little shoot before
dinner. We didn't let the tires down. We didn't even want to get dirty, we
didn't want to get the truck dirty, in fact, we didn't even want to get our
shoes dirty. Sorry if you couldn't crack one on, but we all know you could
do much much better of course. And thanks for helping us get more than
To everyone else who left sensible comments and compliments - thanks for
Oh yes, and to all the know-all experts, the lockers are now in ...
Will the V8 Land Rover start again?
Three years ago I did a cold start video of this Land Rover Series III and
now I thought I'd try again. Marvel as I fight cobwebs, moss growth and get
annoyed at some birds.
V8 Land Rover first start in 2 years
Thos 1974 Series III 109 stripped a gear tooth (or several) a couple of
years ago and hasn't been run since. Purely out of interest, I decided to
see if it would still go, with impressive results. The Landy was originally
fitted with the 2.6-litre 6-cylinder IOE engine, but is now running a
3.5-litre Rover V8 with SU carbs from an SD1.
Land Rover Discovery V8 Muscle, Silencer Removal, Before and After Sound
A before and after replacing the centre silencer on my 1995 Discovery 3.9
V8i. Also a quick 0-60 test. Meaty!
Only modification to Exhaust system so
far is the silencer removal... next up the catalytic converters will be
chopped out, and the rear silencer replaced by a cherry bomb or similar.
If I keep the vehicle, it's likely the headers will be replaced in favour
of some tubular extractor four-into-one items.
But for now, it sounds good -- definitely a V8, but not too anti-social!
