2012 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 hits the Nürburgring
To demonstrate the improvements on the 2012 Corvette, Chevrolet has
returned to the Nürburgring with the range-topping ZR1.
As the video shows, the car - which features a supercharged 6.2-liter V8
engine with 638 hp (476 kW / 647 PS) and 604 lb-ft (818 Nm) of torque -
lapped the legendary Nordschleife in 7:19.63 which is more than six seconds
faster than the previous Corvette
record that was set back in 2008.
To get the improved time, the ZR1 was equipped with the new PDE performance
package which has a full-width rear spoiler and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup
Zero Pressure tires that are "optimized for warm, dry conditions to
increase cornering and handling capability."
Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition sets lap time of 7:14
We now have the official track time for the Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition.
Driver Akira Iida clocked a lap time of 7:14.64 on the
Nürburgring-Nordschleife on August 31. The special edition LFA did it
using its standard-issue (road-legal) Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires.
The LFA Nürburgring Package is scheduled to go into a limited-run
production in 2012. Only 50 units will be from a total LFA production run
of 500 models.
The Nürburgring Edition of the LFA comes with a carbon fiber body kit, a
re-tuned suspension and an upgraded 6-speed sequential gearbox. It is
powered by a 4.8-liter V10 engine with 562 hp (419 kW / 570 PS) - the
standard LFA has an output of 412 kW (560 PS). The complete package costs
an additional $70,000 but delivers a 0-100 km/h sprint of just 3.7 seconds
and a top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph).

Produced for EVO magazine. Enjoy a lap of the famous Ring in 6.48 driven by
Michael Vergers filmed using a ChaseCam solid state digital recorder
combined with Dashware to convert the datalogger information into graphics
on screen. In this case we customised the graphic package to include the
Radical brand and our own ChaseCam brand, offering publishing houses and
production companies the ability to commercialise onboard video and at the
same time making it more engaging to watch. Dashware is fully customisable
with a large variety of dial packs available.

Pagani Zonda R - Nurburgring lap
Pagani - Pirelli Tyre - Assuring new technologies and materials are fit for
production means also putting the vehicle's components under severe
stresses, exceeding those normally encountered in every day road driving.
The Nürburgring Nordschleife is the most demanding track in the world, for
man and machine, an ordeal that each Pagani has to pass, only one of many
in the entire development phase.
The Zonda R serves as the ultimate test bench, a car able to reach
acceleration figures and speeds that are not possible with a road car.
This is further underlined by a laptime of 6:47,5 min for the 20,832 km
Nordschleife. Driver: Marc Basseng

Jan Magnussen Attacks the Nurburgring in a Corvette ZR1
Jan Magnussen Attacks the Nurburgring in a Corvette ZR1. Unfortuantely,
this was a day that the 'ring was open to the public and traffic slowed
down the 638 hp Corvette several times. Still, a great way to see how a
professional race car driver attacks one of the most difficult road courses
in the world.
