Porsche 962 (Pure Sound) - Historic Grand Prix 2014
Five Porsche 962 Group C cars attended the Historic Grand Prix at Zandvoort. The Porsche 962 was designed to comply with IMSA GTP and Group C regulations. In total 91 Porsche 962's were built using 2.8L, 3.0L, and 3.2L variants with single and dual KKK turbochargers. Power output was between 620 and 750 hp. The championships won by teams campaigning the 962 included the World Sportscar Championship title in 1985 and 1986, the IMSA GT Championship every year from 1985 to 1988, the Interserie championship from 1987 until 1992, all four years of the Supercup series (1986 to 1989), and the All Japan Sports Prototype Championship from 1985 until 1989. The 962 also won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1986 and 1987, with Derek Bell, Al Holbert and Hans-Joachim Stuck at the wheel on both occasions Thanks for watching and please subscribe, because there is much more to come! 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder First Test: Fastest 0-60 Time Ever? Plus Porsche 959! - Ignition Ep. 109
On this week's Ignition, Carlos Lago has a second go at Porsche's 918 hypercar. The goal: to run the 918 through the full gauntlet of MT's instrumented testing, including 0-60, quarter mile, braking, figure 8, and a blistering real-time hot lap around Big Willow race track with pro driver Randy Pobst. Carlos also gets a rare chance to experience the 918's ancestor, the Porsche 959. The 959 was a remarkable piece of automobile history that was decades ahead of its time with much of it's technology only appearing in common vehicles within the last ten years or so. The 918 attempts something very similar, featuring very advanced technology, including a naturally aspirated V8 that works with a seamlessly integrated electric motor to provide extra Boost.
