An interesting history, originally a street GT40, then the Gulf Oil Company wanted to go racing and turned this GT40 into a race car. It raced at Daytona and Sebring. Its not in the traditional gulf colors either. Note the rear indicator light on the left rear fender (in orange) and the top mounted green/red lights on the roof (first time i've seen one that had these).
Vintage Racing - Ford GT40 Superformance
Chris Ashworth records a Superformance Ford GT40 along with a racing
Corvette Stingray, Cobra, and Kyle Petty's Mellow Yellow Nascar. This event
was held at Michigan International Speedway, which also consisted of 1950's
Indy cars. This was a preview event for the Concours d'elegance of America.

Ford GT40 Lapping at Sebring International Raceway (Onboard)
This is a 1966 GT40 model Mk.I doing some relatively low-speed test laps at
Sebring International Raceway's 12-hour long course. Filmed during a NASA
HPDE program, the car was in a mixed driver/vehicle group. Passing was
strictly limited to specific track locations and required a 'point by' from
the driver being passed. This car is Superformance chassis number
GT40P/2192 built in 2008,and is registered in the Safir GT40 and Shelby
Registries. This particular car was featured in the March 2009 edition of
Car & Driver magazine. GT40P/2192 was built by Pathfinder Motorsports,
which sells race-prepared continuation model GT40s for vintage racing and

Jeremy Clarkson tests original Ford GT40

The story began back in the early 60's. Ford wanted to dominate all the
branches of motorsport, and to win the famous 24 hours of Le Mans, they
decided the easiest way would be to buy Ferrari, which had an inpressive
and unchallenged streak of wins in this race.
But Enzo Ferrari came up with loads of new conditions for the sale all the
time. The deal turned sour and after some time, Ferrari closed the
Henry Ford II was furious! He ordered his best engineers to: "Create a car
that would crush the red italians!"
After two years of developement, testing, failure and improvement, the GT40
dominated Le Mans in 1966, with both first, second and third place being
taken by this incredible machine.
But it didn't stop there, all the three folowing years, the GT40 won the Le
Mans, securing it a place in all proper gearheads hall of fame.

built to the highest standards by a local De Tomaso enthusiast and expert.
It has a Yates Winston Cup motor (SVO block) with over 670hp and 2380 lbs

Ford GT40 Lapping at Palm Beach International Raceway - PBIR (Onboard)
This is a 1966-model GT40 Mk.I doing some test laps at Palm Beach
International Raceway. Filmed during Brian Redman's Targa 66 program in
February 2009, the car is a prototype of the GT40R being built to compete
in HSR and SVRA historic racing. Behind the wheel is Divina Galica, a
former Formula 1 driver and olympic skiing champion from the UK.
This car is Superformance chassis number GT40P/2192 and is registered in
the Safir GT40 and Shelby Registries. This particular car was featured in
the March 2009 edition of 'Car & Driver' magazine. GT40P/2192 was prepared
by Pathfinder Motorsports, which sells race-prepared GT40Rs for vintage
