An interesting history, originally a street GT40, then the Gulf Oil Company wanted to go racing and turned this GT40 into a race car. It raced at Daytona and Sebring. Its not in the traditional gulf colors either. Note the rear indicator light on the left rear fender (in orange) and the top mounted green/red lights on the roof (first time i've seen one that had these).

was held at Michigan International Speedway, which also consisted of 1950's
Indy cars. This was a preview event for the Concours d'elegance of America.

The 2013 Goodwood Revival Ford GT40 Whitsun Trophy Race - 14/09/13
Taken from the Goodwood website:
The 2013 Goodwood Revival to Mark the 50th Anniversary of the Ford GT40's
Development with a Unique One-Model Race. The world's finest collection of
significant and authentic racing Ford GT40s will be gathered at the 2013
Goodwood Revival (13-15 September) for an exceptional one-model race; the
first time in history that a dedicated competition has ever been held for
these iconic Ford racers.
The 2013 Revival's Whitsun Trophy race will mark 50 years since the genesis
of the Ford GT40 programme. Although the first GT40 wasn't completed until
early 1964, the Ford project actually began a year earlier in 1963, when
Henry Ford II - snubbed by Enzo Ferrari over the sale of his company to the
Michigan-based automotive giant - set out to beat 'il Commendatore' at his
own game, with sights set firmly on victory in the Le Mans 24Hours race.
A Ford advanced vehicles operation was set up in Slough to deliver this
goal and the GT40 programme was led by Eric Broadley, who had engineered
the Lola Mk6 GT that first raced in 1963, a closed coupe designed along
similar lines to the GT40. The GT40 was created to meet with new
manufacturer prototype regulations at Le Mans, and the Ford went on to
become an endurance racing icon, winning the 24 Hours race at la Sarthe
four years in a row, from 1966 to 1969.
The Whitsun Trophy race promises to make for an intriguing spectacle and a
fitting tribute to one of the world's most revered sports car with a long
association with Goodwood, both at the Motor Circuit in period, plus the
Goodwood Revival, with examples racing here since the first event in 1998.
Ford GT40 MK1 Continuation
I am pretty sure this is a Continuation GT40 (IE its not original but it is
made from the same parts in the same process/way that the original was) but
it still is awesome and looks authentic!
PS- excuse the quality - taken on Fine mode vs SuperFine (oops!)

Ford GT40 Lapping at Sebring International Raceway (Onboard)
This is a 1966 GT40 model Mk.I doing some relatively low-speed test laps at
Sebring International Raceway's 12-hour long course. Filmed during a NASA
HPDE program, the car was in a mixed driver/vehicle group. Passing was
strictly limited to specific track locations and required a 'point by' from
the driver being passed. This car is Superformance chassis number
GT40P/2192 built in 2008,and is registered in the Safir GT40 and Shelby
Registries. This particular car was featured in the March 2009 edition of
Car & Driver magazine. GT40P/2192 was built by Pathfinder Motorsports,
which sells race-prepared continuation model GT40s for vintage racing and
for the street. For more info: www.GT40racing.com
