At the 2011 Buenos Aires International Auto Show, Chevrolet revealed the Colorado Rally, a second show truck version of its next generation global midsize pickup. The debut of the adventure themed vehicle follows the reveal of the first Colorado show truck at the Bangkok Motor Show in April 2011. "Both trucks give a glimpse of the next generation Chevrolet global midsize pickup, which is of huge importance to consumers in many countries around the world. For example, in Brazil, costumers made Chevrolet's midsize truck the vehicle segment leader for 16 consecutive years," said Brad Merkel, GM Global Vehicle Line Executive.
Chevrolet's unmatched heritage in durable and dependable pickup trucks is exemplified in the Colorado Rally's sturdy and robust appearance. The show truck combines signature design elements with Chevrolet's legendary on and off road capabilities.
"Colorado Rally exhibits Chevrolet's DNA in an off road version. To develop this vehicle we did an extensive research on the off- road Motorsport. Each and every detail was deeply studied in order to deliver maximum authenticity, designed with the rally raid category in mind, also known as cross country rallying", says Carlos Barba, GM South America Design Center director.
Chevrolet Colorado Rally Concept is a crew cab version with a tridimensional front grille featuring chromed details. Outfitted wildly, Colorado Rally's body color is a triple coat pearled White with golden particles, and other external components in textured charcoal. Skid plate and side moldings in liquid metal and bead lock off road wheels milled from a single piece of aluminium. The wheels machined from a single piece of aluminium, with two distinct surface finishing (machined and polished), 18" inch diameter, and Mud-Terrain T/A 305/60R18 tires to "attack" the off road's obstacles.
Military Vehicles [Czech]: Tatra T815-7 MTV (Armády České Republiky)
Tatra T815 is a truck family, produced by Czech company Tatra. It uses the
traditional tatra concept of rigid backbone tube and swinging half-axles
giving independent suspension. The vehicles are available in 4x4, 6x6, 8x8,
10x8, 10x10, 12x8 and 12x12 variants. There are both air-cooled and
liquid-cooled engines available with power ranging from 230--610 kilowatts
(310--820 hp). As a succesor to Tatra T813 it was originally designed for
extreme off-road condition, while nowadays there are also variants
designated for mixed (both off- and on-road) use.
The T815 and its descendant models brought the Czech truck racer Karel
Loprais to victory six times in the Paris Dakar Rally. In addition to
civilian/commercial uses, the truck family is also widely used by the
military of the Czech Repiblic, Slovakia, Saudi Arabia, India, and Israel.

2011 Chevrolet Colorado Concept
Behold, the next-generation Chevrolet Colorado. Sort of. General Motors has
yanked back the sheets on what the company is calling a show truck at the
Bangkok International Motor Show. Despite the 'show' label, the mid-sizer
is poised to go on sale in Thailand later this year packing a 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine, though there are no
firm details as to what we can expect in terms of either power or
efficiency. GM did say that the Colorado won't leave buyers lacking for
enough towing capacity, though. Odds are we can expect tricks like the
20-inch wheels and body-color tonneau cover to be nixed as the truck makes
its way closer to production.
Still, the vehicle is plenty sharp and looks to have the mechanical guts to
give the global Ford Ranger a run for its money. But will GM offer the
Colorado we see here in the States? That's a tough question. The automaker
has made it clear that the Shreveport, Louisiana plant that manufactures
the aging Colorado/GMC Canyon isn't long for this world, though we have
heard rumors that the automaker isn't planning on killing the pickup all
together. Here's hoping we'll see this truck or something similar in the
States sometime soon.
Colorado in a Mud Trench @ Mettowee Off-Road Extreme Park
I try to get through a mud trench at Mettowee Off-Road Extreme Park. I'm
glad I didn't make it through the last part. Looking at what happened to
the lifted F350 with 49" tires, I woulda buried my truck. Who thinks I'll
need a strap?
