XR6 Turbo Rebuild

After doing a compression test on the beast I noticed that it lost about 100psi in number 6 So I pulled the motor out and discovered that the oil ring had pushed thru... So it was time for a rebuild. Thanks my local mechanic we are going to do a rebuild total cost of the rebuild is about 10k.. I will be roaming the streets again min to late January.. Can't wait to see what horse power I can get hoping for 600rwhp+

How to Rebuild a Turbo - Part 1 of 2
Rebuilding a td05h 16g turbo. This process can be applied to many journal bearing turbochargers. :) It definitely comes in handy to know how to do this when you are in this type of hobby. 4/25/12: Small explanation on the balancing of the rotating assembly since I get so many comments regarding it. This particular turbocharger, td05h, has its rotating assembly components balanced separately. This means each individual part (compressor wheel, turbine wheel/shaft) gets balanced separately. This allows for easy interchangeability of parts in case they need replacing. This is why I am able to install a td05 20g wheel on this turbo without having to balance the entire rotating assembly. THIS IS NOT THE CASE FOR ALL turboS OUT THERE. You need to research whether your specific turbo (if it's not td05h) was balanced as an assembly or "component balanced" like I explained above. FPV Typhoon 4L turbo into the 9s - ZF 6-speed auto
Christian's FPV F6 has become the first 4L turbo Falcon into the 9s using the factory ZF 6-speed auto trans. An awesome achievement, the car is aided by a Nizpro Stage 2+ performance package using the factory Garrett turbo (upgraded 0.7 compressor cover and Nizpro modified wastegate). Making around 450kW to the wheels on 24psi Boost, the car is fuelled by E85 ethanol and was raced with a full Exhaust, and on 275 street radials. Interesting the modified transmission still retains the stock converter stall speed. Christian went 10.06 then 10.007 before going 9.98 at 138mph on his final pass of the day. FG XR6 turbo 0-200. Factory standard. Rolling on factory 19" rims, Toyo T1R. Brand new tyres, so grip is fantastic. Usually it would wheelspin to 60, stuffing up the gear change, but this time it was nice and smooth. 0-100: 4.9 seconds 0-200: 16.1 seconds 80-120: 2.5 seconds Eased off a little after 200, was contemplating going to the 240 limiter but the private racetrack had a corner coming up so I canned that idea. Can't wait to start modding it.
